Beginner's Guide
2v2 tag system, Fuse modifiers, Assist Calls, Dynamic Save, and core mechanics for new players
What is 2XKO
2XKO is a 2v2 tag-team fighting game developed by Riot Games, featuring champions from League of Legends. Teams consist of two players (or one player controlling both), with one champion as the Point Fighter (active on screen) and another as the Assist Fighter (in reserve), working together in tandem.
Basic Match Structure
- Each team selects two champions (1 point + 1 assist)
- A Fuse — a team style modifier — is chosen during champion select
- First team to KO both of the opposing team's champions wins
- Standard format is best of 3 games
Universal Combo System
Every champion in 2XKO shares a common base combo structure.
- Simply input Light → Medium → Heavy → Special to land a basic combo
- The autocombo system lets you execute full sequences by mashing a single button type
- You can land satisfying combos from day one, regardless of experience
Tag System
Tags are a core way to shift momentum. There are three main types.
Hard Tag
- Instantly swaps the assist champion to the point position
- Used to pull out a low-health point fighter safely
- Creates some recovery frames, so opponents can read it
Soft Tag (Assist Call)
- Temporarily calls out the assist champion to perform an assist attack
- Used to extend combos, apply oki pressure, and maintain offensive momentum
- Assists are very strong by design — nearly every offensive idea improves with one
Tag Burst
- Inputting the tag command while blocking or being combo'd calls in the assist to interrupt
- A defensive escape tool against long combos
- Has a cooldown after use
Using Assist Calls
Assist calls are the engine of offense in 2XKO. Key situations to use them:
- Combo extension: Call in assist to re-juggle opponents and add more damage
- Okizeme: Layer pressure on the opponent's wakeup
- Mix-up creation: Attack from two angles simultaneously to confuse blocking direction
- Zoning support: Use a zoner's assist to slow down opponent approach
Dynamic Save
Dynamic Save is a defensive option available while being combo'd.
- The assist champion bursts in to interrupt the opponent's combo
- Activated by pressing S1 or S2 simultaneously with T
- Overusing it leads to longer cooldowns — save it for big combo situations
Fuse Basics
The Fuse choice defines the team's overall style. Double Down is the recommended pick for beginners.
- Double Down: When you use a super, the assist character also fires a super. Easy to execute, high impact
- Juggernaut: 1v2 playstyle with no assist, compensated by a 20% HP boost and damage reduction when low
- Sidekick: Assist cannot be KO'd but has restricted tools. A gentler entry point
See the Fuse System Guide for full details on all five Fuses.
Key Beginner Tips
- Master autocombos first: Getting basic combos consistent is the top priority
- Call assists aggressively: Not using assists is a big waste of their value
- Hold Dynamic Save: Keep it available for when the opponent lands a big combo
- Tag on low health: Actively swap your point fighter before they take fatal damage
- Stick with one team: Consistency over several weeks accelerates improvement more than team-swapping
