When threatened, the Gumursa raises its spikes dramatically, much like a porcupine. What’s completely bizarre, however, is that it’s capable of removing its spikes from its own back and hurling them as projectiles. Unfortunately, this procedure usually causes the animal to bleed profusely... Not sure if it's an effective strategy.
