Rating
Calling Bell is an Ancient Relic that immediately grants 3 relics but adds a Curse card to your deck. The return of 3 relics is top-tier among all Ancient Relics, making it a popular safe pick when the other relic options are Weak.
Return of 3 Relics
- Adds 3 random relics, chosen from Common to Rare tiers
- Relics provide lasting benefits throughout the entire run, so gaining 3 at once is extremely valuable
- If jackpot relics (Meat on the Bone, Hundred-Year Puzzle, etc.) are included, the run's stability improves instantly
- Probability-wise, it's not uncommon to roll at least one Rare relic
Curse Drawback
- Adds 1 Curse card to your deck. Curses are unplayable cards that clog your draws
- In the early game with a small deck (such as after Act 1), the Curse's impact is significant
- Can be addressed by removing the Curse at a shop. Weigh the removal cost against the value of 3 relics
- If you have Exhaust-related cards, you may be able to process the Curse during combat
Impact of Timing
- Picking it up after Act 1 means a small deck and a heavier Curse impact, but you reap relic benefits for the rest of the Acts
- Picking it up in Act 3 means the deck is already bloated, so the Curse's relative impact is smaller

Synergistic Cards and Relics
| Card / Relic |
Reason |
| Exhaust / Exude Cards |
If you can process the Curse via Exhaust in combat, the drawback is effectively zero |
| Deck Compression Methods |
Use shop removals or event removals to deal with the Curse |
| Blue Candle |
A relic that lets you play Curses at an HP cost and Exhaust them. The ultimate Curse countermeasure |
| Pomander |
Prevents Curse additions. However, Calling Bell's Curse is added upon acquisition, so it doesn't help there |
Key Play Points
- Prioritize removing the Curse at the next shop. Secure enough Gold for the removal cost
- If you have Exhaust cards, use the strategy of Exhausting the Curse when drawn
- The direction of your run may change depending on which 3 relics you receive. Reassess your deck direction after acquisition
- Excellent as a default pick when no other Ancient option is clearly stronger
