Dark Lantern Phoenix Build

Kernmechanik

The Ashbringer class item, Dark Lantern, sets you to 50% HP at battle start in exchange for "revive at 50% HP + brief invulnerability" when you would die. That is effectively 1.5x effective HP, and combined with the Phoenix's instant-revive effect, you revive twice — extreme durability.

Damage scales through Fire and Dark items, and Chili Goobert accelerates Heat. It is rated top-class across all builds, with especially strong counter-performance against one-hit-finish archetypes like Mega Clover ignition.

Ashbringer is mandatory at Round 8. Dark Lantern is the centerpiece.

Center Dark Lantern, place Fire items on the left and Dark items on the right to maximize adjacency bonuses. Place Phoenix in the back of the bag to stabilize the revive loop.

Build-Reihenfolge

Frühes Spiel (Rounds 1-6)

Prioritize Torch, Burning Coal, and Healing Herbs. Plan the Wooden Sword → Burning Sword path.

Mittelspiel (Rounds 7-12)

Take Ashbringer at Round 8. Center Dark Lantern and split Fire / Dark items left / right. Complete the Heat loop with Chili Goobert.

Spätes Spiel (Round 13+)

Once Phoenix appears, the build hits final form. Add Dark Armor or Molten Spear for defense + Fire typing. The completed form: 2 revives + Fire scaling lets you ride out the opponent's main pressure window and counter back.

Taktik und Positionierung

This build "powers up after dying twice". The flow is: take damage from the initial 50% HP, revive to fight again, revive once more with Phoenix. So decide the round after the opponent's max-damage window passes. Particularly favorable against short-fight archetypes (Mega Clover ignition).

Schwierige Matchups und Konter

  • Sustain archetypes (Lifebinder healing): being dragged into a long fight is bad. Lift sustained damage with Burning Sword.
  • Buff-strip: Dark Lantern's effect is unstrippable, but Fire/Dark buffs are vulnerable. Counter with Amethyst.
  • Phoenix mirror: it becomes a revive-count race. Use Chili Goobert and Heat acceleration to land damage first.

Variationen

Pairing with Firebender (Friendly Fire) is hard for placement. Combining with Crusader (Burning Banner) creates a debuff-resist + revive hybrid, but the simplicity of this build is its strength.
