Mega Clover Build
Mega Clover Build
Core Mechanic
Mega Clover is a Grovekeeper class item, but it pairs so well with the Ranger's starting kit (Ranger's Bag + Lucky Clover + Wooden Sword) that Rangers run it just as often. It is one of the strongest builds in the game.
The heart of the build is the effect that grants 40 random buffs once you reach 20 stacks of Lucky. Stamina, Mana, attack speed, critical rate, defense — almost every stat that matters in combat can roll, so the moment it triggers, the match is essentially decided. On top of that, Mega Clover spawns 2 Lucky Clovers in your stash every round, which keeps you supplied with the recipe material that other builds run dry on.
Items that actively add Lucky stacks are limited: Lucky Piggy, Fortuna's Grace, Flute, Leather Boots, and the Lucky Clover itself. To hit 20 stacks reliably from this short list, craft a Lucky Piggy from a Piggybank + 2 Lucky Clovers as early as possible.
Recommended Subclass: Pathfinder
When the Ranger uses Mega Clover, Pathfinder is the first-pick subclass. The plan is hybrid: chip with Spikes and Pestilence in the early-to-mid game, then end the round with the explosive 40-buff trigger from Mega Clover. Grovekeeper lets you slot Mega Clover directly, but on the Ranger the Pathfinder + Djinn Lamp ignition is more consistent thanks to bag efficiency and synergy with the starter Ranger's Bag.
Core Items and Placement
| Item | Role |
|---|---|
| Mega Clover | Trigger of the 40-buff payoff; lock it into the deepest bag slot |
| Lucky Piggy | Grants 2 Lucky on round start; very space-efficient |
| Djinn Lamp (Manathirst Insta-Lamp) | Generates a random buff every 2 seconds, including Lucky |
| Hammer Dagger | Stun + dagger chain trigger; keep it in the Ranger's Bag |
| Body Armor / Protective Purse / Stone Helm | Defensive layer to survive until ignition |
| Wolpertinger (if available) | Tops up the buff you have least of by 3, feeding the Lucky loop |
Make sure the Ranger's Bag contains the Hammer Dagger plus another damage source (a fast weapon like the Falcon Blade or extra daggers). Each weapon in the bag adds +10% crit and each Lucky stack adds +3%, so crit rate becomes meaningful the moment the bag is loaded.
Build Order
Early game (Rounds 1-6)
Collect Piggybanks and Lucky Clovers and craft a Lucky Piggy on the first round it is feasible. Mega Clover usually appears around rounds 3-5 (and you may see multiple thanks to the unique-item bonus). Buy it on sight and lock it into the back of the bag. For weapons, transition Wooden Sword → Shortbow or Hammer to keep a baseline damage source online.
Mid game (Rounds 7-12)
Search aggressively for Djinn Lamp. Because it consumes Mana, secure a Mana Orb and a Sapphire, and place the Djinn Lamp so its center sits on a star slot in the Ranger's Bag. In parallel, combine Hammer + Dagger into Hammer Dagger. Build an HP bunker with armor and a shield so you do not get bursted before ignition.
Late game (Round 13+)
Grab Wolpertinger the moment it appears. Its "top up the buff you have least of by 3" effect naturally feeds Lucky stacks. If a Present (random item instead of gold) shows up, take it for the extra unique-item rolls. The goal is to consistently hit 20 Lucky right at round start so your Mega Clover fires before the opponent's win condition.
Tactics and Positioning
The most dangerous window is the few seconds before Mega Clover triggers. Layer defense forward in the placement so opening burst — early-game daggers, Pestilence pressure, Spike chip — does the smallest possible damage. After the trigger, output explodes based on how many of the 40 random buffs roll into attack speed and damage, so the more weapon slots you have ready, the bigger the payoff.
Lucky Clovers do not convert to Lucky stacks unless you actively consume them, so always burn them manually before the round starts. Forgetting this delays your 20-stack ignition and you will lose the race to the opponent's payoff.
Difficult Matchups and Counters
- Buff-strip / Cursed Dagger archetypes: they remove your 40 buffs and ruin the payoff. Slot Amethysts or buff-protection accessories.
- All-in opening Reaper poison: you melt before ignition. Consider Healing Herbs or a small Lifebinder splash.
- Long-game stat-scaling builds: you must hit 20 stacks before they outscale you, so prioritize the fastest possible Djinn Lamp ignition.
Variations
Variants include a "Wolp build" that uses Wolpertinger instead of Djinn Lamp as the buff source, a "raw-draw" version that runs more Leather Boots and Flutes, and a "Leaf hybrid" that swaps Body Armor for Yggdrasil Leaf to gain sustain. The list of pieces depends on shop luck. The core remains the same — reach 20 Lucky and trigger Mega Clover — and every variation is just a different route to that same line.
