Backpack Battles Best Builds | S-Tier Builds for Every Class
Build Selection Principles
Builds in this game only work when three elements come together: class-specific mechanics, main damage source, and economy / backpack expansion. To win consistently at high ranks, you need the judgment to flexibly build around what fits the meta given a randomly generated shop.
Below we cover representative builds that sit in S-tier through B-tier in the current environment, organized by class. Each build notes its "core", "support", and "bag" components, showing what to prioritize at the shop.
S-Tier: Strongest Builds
These builds have the highest winrate in the current environment and, once materials come together, reliably push you to high ranks. They're strong compositions that don't depend on shop luck, with multiple viable assembly routes.
Ranger: Critical Hunter
Ranger's signature build converts Luck stacks into Critical chance to overwhelm opponents with burst damage. The combination of Acorn Necklace and Luck sustains a 60-80% crit rate, and rapid-fire arrows chunk through HP in seconds.
- Core: Acorn Necklace + Lucky Clover + Arrows
- Support: Lucky Piggy + Carrot + Blueberries
- Bag: Ranger Bag
When the three core pieces come together, high-chance crits fire off from the start of the fight and destroy the opponent's starting gear. Lucky Piggy (grants Luck when gaining gold) and Carrot (heals on Luck stack consumption) keep resources flowing, while Blueberries' stamina supply maximizes the firing rate of your arrows.
Reaper: Card Combo
An advanced build that chains the Lovers card and Ace of Spades from a card deck, slugging it out with Vamp and Critical. It makes full use of the unique card-flip system, and hand management technique decides the outcome.
- Core: Card Deck + Lovers Card + Ace of Spades + Reverse!
- Extension: White-Eyed Azure Dragon + Fool Card
- Support: Miss Fortune + Frog
The Lovers card is a universal buff card usable across classes, boosting both attack speed and damage. Ace of Spades raises crit chance, and stacking copies lets you aim for guaranteed crits. Using Reverse! to flip card order and chain strong cards back-to-back is the key trick of this build.
Mage: Chess Master
A rock-solid build combining Chessboard with various pieces for both offense and defense - the strongest Mage configuration. The Chessboard deploys an independent battlefield outside the backpack, running a dual-attack strategy that fights alongside your main backpack force.
- Core: Chessboard + White/Black Pawn + Knight + Bishop + Rook
- Support: Wand of Equilibrium + Magic for Dummies
- Bag: Puzzlebag of Love
The base is the white-black balance of White Pawn (Regen when captured) and Black Pawn (gain Mana when capturing). Once you've assembled 8-10 pieces, mana supply, healing, and poison damage stack in multiple layers mid-fight. Promoting pieces to Knight, Bishop, or Rook amplifies each piece's effect, reaching firepower that can win the match on the chess side alone.
A-Tier: Strong Builds
Strong builds just below S-tier that, in certain metas or matchups, can outperform S-tier options.
Berserker: Double Axe Rampage
A brute-force build that explodes in damage once HP drops and you enter Berserk. Craft two Axes into a Double Axe to establish main damage, then use Dragonscale Armor to convert incoming damage into Vamp and attack. An offense-defense hybrid.
- Core: Axe x2 → Double Axe + Dragonscale Armor
- Support: Dragon Claw + Dragon Leather Boots
- Defense: Steel Amulet
Double Axe delivers high damage with wide area attacks, and with Berserk's extra buffs layered on top, it can destroy main gear in a single hit. The trio of Dragonscale Armor + Dragon Claw + Dragon Leather Boots forms an iron-wall setup that balances HP sustain and damage output.
Pyromancer: Heat Explosion
A typical Pyromancer build that stacks massive amounts of Heat to trigger triple-crit bursts from the Dragon Orb. Layered Heat supply from multiple Flames builds up to the threshold, where Dragon Orb fires off a powerful attack.
- Core: Flame x3-4 + Dragon Orb + Flame Sword
- Support: Oil Lamp + Chili Pepper + Burning Coal
Multiple Flames feed constant Heat, Dragon Orb triggers, and three crit bursts destroy main gear - that chain is this build's winning pattern. Oil Lamp boosts Heat efficiency, Chili Pepper adds damage, and Burning Coal provides ongoing Heat supply. These three supports consistently push you over the Heat threshold.
Adventurer: Buff Thief
A trick-play build that steals opponents' buffs with Boomerang and Daggerang while strengthening itself. It converts the opponent's accumulated buffs into your own army's power, so the stronger your opponent, the stronger this build becomes - a paradoxical structure.
- Core: Boomerang → Daggerang + Rope + Hero Shield
- Support: Twine Thread + Broccoli + Treasure Chest
Daggerang (the upgraded craft of Boomerang) is an attack weapon with Buff Steal + damage, yanking the opponent's Critical, Luck, and Shield buffs over to yourself. Rope (grows when triggered) + Twine Thread (increases pet trigger frequency) maximizes trigger count, landing 20-30 buff steals per match.
B-Tier: Reliable Builds
These lack the explosive ceiling of S-tier or A-tier, but their appeal is stability and reduced dependence on shop luck. They hold up at mid-to-high ranks.
Engineer: Speed Machine
A technical build using Battery and Generator to push the use speed of every item to its limit. It converts charge resources into speed buffs for all weapons and accessories, firing 2-3 times more often than normal - a volume-based build.
- Core: Battery x3-4 + Generator + Coil
- Support: Swift Gloves + Flute
Batteries x3-4 supply large amounts of charge, the Generator converts charge into speed buffs, and the cooldown interval on every item shrinks - a high-speed loop. Swift Gloves' attack speed plus the Flute buff achieve the peak damage of a speed-focused build.
General: Food Pan
A general-purpose build usable on any class. Stuff in food to raise the Frying Pan's damage, and combine healing with stamina supply - a jack-of-all-trades setup. Food is common and nature-typed with plentiful supply options, so it doesn't depend on shop luck.
- Core: Frying Pan + Banana + Garlic + Various food
- Support: Amulet of Gluttony + Leather Bag
The Frying Pan gains +1 damage per food item, reaching high damage once you've packed in 10+ food items. The combination of Banana (stamina supply) + Garlic (shield) + Amulet of Gluttony (damage on food trigger) simultaneously raises damage, sustain, and stamina across the board.
Build Decision Flow
Narrow down builds based on your shop luck and current items using the decision flow below.
- Rounds 1-3: Collect materials for multiple builds in parallel. Don't lock in too early
- Rounds 4-5: Use the success or failure of craft triggers to narrow your build direction. Prioritize the side where materials came together
- Rounds 6-8: Aim for the completed form of your main build while staying aware of the opponent's meta
- Round 9+: Finishing gear (legendary items, top-tier pets) shore up damage and sustain
At high ranks, knowing when to switch builds also matters. If materials don't come together, the flexibility to pivot to a different build without clinging to your original plan directly affects winrate.
