Necrobinder Soul Deck Build
Overview
The Soul Deck Build exploits the Necrobinder's unique Soul card system. Soul cards cost 0, draw a card, and Exhaust themselves — making them free cycle pieces that also trigger Exhaust-synergy effects. By flooding your deck with Soul cards through generators, each turn becomes a chain of free draws that fuels both offense and Exhaust payoffs simultaneously. The build rewards tight deck management and stacking Exhaust-trigger effects.
Key Cards
- Seance: Core Soul generator — adds Soul cards directly to your hand each combat, establishing the cycling pipeline.
- Dredge: Skill that recovers cards from the Exhaust pile or generates additional Soul cards, keeping the chain alive.
- Pagestorm: Power that deals damage for each card Exhausted; every Soul card played contributes directly to damage output.
- Forbidden Grimoire: Power that scales with Exhausted count; Soul cards stack it faster than almost any other method.
- Grave Warden: Skill that generates Soul cards or benefits when they Exhaust, amplifying the per-cycle value.
- Parse: Skill that manipulates hand composition to maximize Soul card access and chain efficiency.
- Spirit of Ash: Power that activates whenever a card is Exhausted — Soul cards make it trigger multiple times per turn.
Key Relics
- Funerary Mask: Increases the benefit of each Exhaust event; Soul cards Exhaust on their own, so every cycle is amplified.
- Book Repair Knife: Restores Exhausted cards to the draw pile, giving Soul-generated value a second life in longer fights.
- Big Hat: Provides additional draw, ensuring Soul generators reach your hand early each cycle.
Strategy
- Priority-pick Soul generators (Seance, Grave Warden) in early Act 1 — without them the engine has no fuel.
- Once you have 2+ Soul generators, add Exhaust-payoff Powers (Pagestorm, Forbidden Grimoire) to convert each Soul into damage.
- Each turn, play Soul generators first to flood your hand with Soul cards, then play Soul cards to draw deeper while triggering payoffs.
- Use Dredge or Parse to retrieve key cards from the Exhaust pile in longer Elite or Boss fights where the deck cycles multiple times.
- Keep the deck lean — unnecessary cards dilute Soul generator access and interrupt the cycling chain.
Pick Priority
- Highest: Seance, Pagestorm, Forbidden Grimoire (engine core)
- High: Grave Warden, Spirit of Ash (Exhaust multipliers)
- Medium: Dredge, Parse (deck maintenance and recovery)
- Low: High-cost attack cards that interrupt the free-cycle flow
Tips
- Soul cards do not deal damage on their own — ensure you have damage payoffs (Pagestorm, Forbidden Grimoire) before the Soul engine becomes purely defensive.
- Against fast, high-damage enemies in Act 1, do not sacrifice all Block cards for Soul generators — survival comes before engine setup.
- Deck size matters: a 10-card Soul deck cycles in 2-3 turns; a bloated 25-card deck loses tempo. Actively remove weak starter cards.
- Book Repair Knife can restart the Exhaust pile mid-combat, effectively giving your key Exhausted cards (like Seance) another activation.
