Attack Pattern
The Knowledge Demon operates on a strict four-turn loop. Learning the cycle and planning your offense/defense allocation turn-by-turn is the core of winning this fight.
| Turn | Action |
|---|---|
| Turn 1 | Curse of Knowledge (debuff choice) — Forces a two-option choice: "Disintegration" deals end-of-turn damage (6 → 7 → 8, increasing each cycle), while the other option applies a permanent debuff (draw reduction, play limit, or energy loss) |
| Turn 2 | Attack — Medium single-target hit |
| Turn 3 | Attack x3 — Three-hit combo |
| Turn 4 | Attack + Heal 30 HP + Strength gain (Ponder) — Attacks, then recovers 30 HP and permanently gains Strength |
| Onwards | Repeats Turns 1–4 (after the third Curse of Knowledge choice, Turn 1 is skipped and only Turns 2–4 repeat) |
Strategy
- Race the Turn 4 Ponder — Each cycle the boss heals 30 HP and permanently gains Strength. You must consistently deal more than 30 damage per cycle to make progress. Concentrate your highest-damage plays before Turn 4 to minimize the impact of the heal.
- Choose debuffs carefully — Disintegration is a fixed end-of-turn damage hit that can often be Blocked. Permanent debuffs (draw reduction, play limit, energy loss) cripple your deck indefinitely — avoid them whenever possible.
- Passive decks lose — The constant healing combined with Strength scaling means defensive strategies cannot keep up. Aggressive, consistent damage output is mandatory.
- Poison is top-tier here — Stacked Poison ticks every turn and mathematically outpaces the 30 HP Ponder heal over time. Silent builds with heavy poison have a structural advantage in this fight.
- Defect: set up passive orb damage early — Lightning or Dark Orbs dealing passive damage each turn let you focus energy on Blocking during punishing turns while still progressing damage.
Recommended Counters
- Build an aggressive damage deck that sustains output exceeding 30 HP per cycle to offset Ponder healing
- Focus burst cards before Turn 4 to shrink the effective HP restored each cycle
- Always prefer Disintegration over permanent debuffs — Block the damage, protect your deck
- Stack Poison or passive damage sources for consistent per-turn pressure
- Establish an advantageous board state before the third Curse of Knowledge cycle ends and the fight shifts to a pure offense/defense loop
