Effect and Behavior

Lobs an explosive projectile toward the nearest enemy. On impact or after a short timer, the grenade detonates and deals area-of-effect damage to all enemies within the blast radius. The combination of direct hit damage plus explosion splash makes the weapon effective against clustered enemies — hitting one enemy in a group distributes explosion damage to everything nearby.

Candelabrador as the evolution material directly expands the blast radius, increasing how many enemies each grenade damages per detonation. Level scaling raises simultaneous grenade count, explosion damage, and blast area, making later levels increasingly effective against dense enemy waves.

Evolution Conditions

Max Hand Grenade (Lv 8), carry Candelabrador, and open an elite-drop chest after 10:00 to evolve. The post-evolution weapon name is currently unconfirmed.

Strengths

  • Explosion AoE hits multiple enemies simultaneously — dense clusters take full damage from a single grenade
  • Candelabrador scales explosion radius directly — each Area-boosting item linearly expands enemy count per blast
  • Auto-targets nearest enemy — grenades naturally fly into the center of approaching crowds without manual aiming
  • Blast damage is not blocked by the target enemy, so clustered enemies behind the primary target also receive damage

Weaknesses

  • Evolution destination currently unknown
  • Low single-target focus — fast-moving bosses or isolated enemies take only the direct hit without benefitting the AoE
  • Grenade trajectory follows the nearest enemy, which may not always align with the densest group
  • Unlock requires reaching level 7 in a run before it becomes permanently available

Recommended Characters

  • AoE-focused builds: multiple wide-area weapons compound into efficient crowd clear
  • Imelda: +10% Growth levels Hand Grenade faster for earlier AoE coverage
  • Gennaro: projectile stacking pairs well with explosive weapons

Recommended Passives

  • Candelabrador: mandatory for evolution; Area increase directly expands blast radius per grenade (top priority)
  • Spinach: +10% Might raises explosion damage
  • Duplicator: Amount increase adds simultaneous grenades for broader field coverage
  • Tome: Duration extension delays detonation slightly, allowing grenades to roll further before exploding

Synergistic Arcanas

  • VIII Great Gospel: Area boost amplifies Candelabrador's explosion expansion
  • IX Divine Bloodline: crit compounding on explosion damage raises DPS against clusters

Strategy and Tips

  • Early (0–10 min): Level Hand Grenade and grab Candelabrador early — blast radius expansion is the weapon's primary damage multiplier. Even small Area increases dramatically raise the number of enemies hit per detonation.
  • Mid (10–20 min): Carry Candelabrador and push to Lv8 for evolution. Add Duplicator to throw multiple grenades per cycle. Position inside enemy clusters so grenades consistently land in high-density zones.
  • Late (20+ min): With high Area and multiple simultaneous grenades, each detonation cycle clears large sections of the enemy field. Stay ahead of the largest enemy waves so grenades continuously land in their densest concentration.

FAQ

Q: How do I unlock Hand Grenade?
A: Level it to level 7 in any run. After this, it appears as a standard weapon offer in future runs.

Q: Does the grenade explode on impact or on a timer?
A: It detonates on enemy contact or after a short timer if it misses — whichever comes first. Against stationary clusters, contact detonation is common; against fast-moving targets, the timer ensures the blast still occurs.

Q: How much does Candelabrador expand the explosion?
A: Candelabrador raises Area, which linearly scales the blast radius. Each Candelabrador increases how far the explosion reaches from the impact point — more Area means more enemies caught in each blast for higher total damage per grenade.
