Rating & Analysis

Yorick is a Legendary that scales its xMult off a heavy "every 23 discards" trigger. Right after you pick it up it feels weak, and growth takes time, so early acquisition is ideal. The per-stack value of x1 is huge, though, so it explodes in the mid-to-late game. Runs routinely exceed 100 discards total, and even a late pickup can reach around x4–x5 by Ante 8.

Its real strength emerges in discard-accelerating builds. Increase discards with Grabber / Wasteful / Recyclomancy and raise turnover with Merry Andy (+3 discard), Drunkard (+1 discard), and Vagabond. Decks that limit discards (Painted Deck) or Chip/Mult-balanced builds (Plasma Deck) reduce Yorick's value.

Tips & Usage

  • Yorick's rule is "get it early, discard a lot." Ante 3–4 is ideal; Ante 6 or later leaves too little growth time.
  • Try to burn every discard every round. Unused discards are lost growth.
  • Destruction effects (Hanged Man, Devil, Immolate) are not discards, so they do not count toward Yorick's 23.
  • Blueprint shines after Yorick is already grown, so place it adjacent in the late Antes.
  • Boss Blinds that block discards (The Water: 0 discard, Cerulean Bell: forced card selection) stall Yorick's growth — keep Chicot handy.

Caveats

  • Takes time to ramp, so a pickup at Ante 7–8 rarely contributes. Switch paths if you haven't found it by mid-run.
  • Discard-triggered Jokers (Burnt Joker, Mail-In Rebate, etc.) use independent counters — both can benefit.
  • Even with Eternal, Yorick stays strong, but it does eat a Joker slot.
