Mosquito King
Spawns a mosquito each time it hits an enemy. Mosquitos attack a random enemy, dealing {[min_mosquito_damage]} - {[max_mosquito_damage]} damage each. If a mosquito kills an enemy, they steal {[lifesteal_heal]} health.
Mosquito King
Quick Reference
- Type: Evolution ball (Brood Mother + Vampire)
- Effect: Spawns a mosquito on hit. Mosquitoes attack random enemies and steal +1 HP per mosquito hit
- Solo tier: S (top of summon-DPS class)
- Role: Sustain DPS + self-healing
Rating
Mosquito King is a rare S-tier ball that fuses summon and lifesteal. Every hit spawns a mosquito; mosquitoes home onto random enemies, dealing damage and healing you on hit. The chain of hits → mosquitoes → damage → healing never stops, holding strong even into Pit 20+ runs.
Multiplies explosively with summon-bonus characters: The Pitling's leadership boost increases ball count, Iron Fool's strength scaling amplifies the 80–120 base damage per mosquito. With 5 main balls active, expect 25–50 mosquitoes per wave; with Iron Fool's +20%, that's an extra +800–1,200 damage per wave on top of base output.
Mosquito King is also a required component for Nosferatu (the only 3-way fusion in the game). Even without going for Nosferatu, the standalone Mosquito King carries hard.
Evolution Recipe
| Material A | Material B | Result |
|---|---|---|
| Brood Mother | Vampire | Mosquito King |
Single recipe. Both materials are base balls, making them moderately accessible.
Path to Nosferatu
Mosquito King fuses into the only 3-way evolution if you also have Vampire Lord and Spider Queen:
- Vampire Lord = Bleed + Vampire
- Spider Queen = Brood Mother + Egg Sac
- Nosferatu = Vampire Lord + Mosquito King + Spider Queen
That said, Mosquito King solo often outperforms Nosferatu at standard difficulties. Don't rush the fusion unless you need its specific kit.
Build Paths
| Build | Order | Playstyle |
|---|---|---|
| Summon Spam | Mosquito King + Maggot | Maximize hits with Pitling/Iron Fool |
| Lifesteal Tank | Mosquito King + Vampire Lord | Sustain HP through long fights |
| Nosferatu Endgame | Mosquito King → Nosferatu | 3-way fusion (requires 2 partners) |
| Mosquito King + Frozen Flame | + Frozen Flame | +25% global amp doubles per-mosquito damage |
Best Characters
- The Pitling [S] — Ball count boost = exponentially more mosquitoes
- Iron Fool [S] — Strength scaling raises per-mosquito damage by ~20%
- The Repentant [S] — +5%/bounce stacks compound per mosquito
- The Sisyphus — Massive AoE + Mosquito King's hit count = compounding damage
Best Passives
- Spawn Damage — Boosts each mosquito's hit
- Followers — More summons per trigger
- Anointed Wings — Universal summon amplifier
- Wagon Wheel — Wall hits create more mosquito spawns
Playstyle Tips
- Ball count = DPS. Main goal is maximizing main balls before Mosquito King reaches its ceiling
- Aim for completion by Pit 15–20. With 5+ main balls online, Mosquito King hits its stride
- Frozen Flame combo is broken: +25% global debuff applies to every mosquito hit
- Nosferatu decision: only fuse when boss DPS is lacking; standalone is usually enough
Weaknesses
- Slow ramp-up: Pit 5–10 sees underwhelming output until mosquito count builds
- Random targeting: Can't focus-fire bosses; mosquitoes pick targets stochastically
- Visual clutter: Lots of mosquitoes obscure enemy positions and projectiles
TL;DR
Mosquito King is the scaling-DPS king — the more hits, the stronger. Unique fusion of summon + lifesteal. Pair with The Pitling or Iron Fool to reach game-winning DPS. Decide late-game whether to push Nosferatu or stay solo.
