Overgrowth

Applies 1 stack of overgrowth. Upon reaching {[max_overgrowth_stacks]}, consume all stacks and deal {[min_overgrowth_damage]}-{[max_overgrowth_damage]} damage to all enemies in a {[range]}x{[range]} tile square.

Overgrowth

Quick Reference

  • Type: Evolution ball (Cell + Earthquake)
  • Effect: Applies overgrowth stacks on hit. Multiple stacks consume to deal AoE damage
  • Solo tier: A
  • Role: Stack-based burst AoE

Rating

Overgrowth is a "stack and detonate" AoE ball. AoE damage triggers on stack consumption, so high-hit-count builds maximize its value. While S-tier Magma and Inferno deal more raw output, Overgrowth's value compounds with bounce-heavy characters that stack rapidly, becoming a reliable late-game DPS source in Pit 20+.

You can't manually control the explosion timing — fire into clusters and let natural detonation occur.

Evolution Recipe

Material A Material B Result
Cell Earthquake Overgrowth

Both base balls. Among Cell evolutions, ranks behind Radiation Beam / Egg Sac in importance but still strong.

Build Paths

Build Order Playstyle
Overgrowth + Inferno + Inferno Stack burst + burn spread
Overgrowth + Virus + Virus DoT during stack accumulation
Overgrowth + Nosferatu + Nosferatu Stack + summon multi-front

Best Characters

  • The Repentant — +5%/bounce, accelerated stack accumulation
  • The Ascetic — Right-angle bounces maximize hit count
  • The Carouser — Orbital balls maintain hits

Best Passives

  • Eyeball — AoE damage amp
  • Wagon Wheel — Stack accumulation accelerator
  • Rubber Headband — More bounces

Playstyle Tips

  • Maximize hit count: slow stacking = slow detonation rhythm
  • Detonate in cluster centers: scattered enemies waste AoE
  • Coexists with Magma/Inferno: covers both burst and persistent damage

TL;DR

Overgrowth is the stack-and-burst A-tier AoE. Behind S-tier on raw output but excels with bounce-heavy builds. Becomes S+ with right combos.
