[Dominion] Leprechaun Card Guide - Wish or Hex Gainer
Rating of the Nocturne card Leprechaun. Cost 3 Night-Fate. Gain a Gold; if you have exactly 7 cards in play, gain a Wish; otherwise receive a Hex.
Leprechaun
Basic Info
- Type: Action - Night - Fate
- Cost: 3
- Effect: Gain a Gold. If you have exactly 7 cards in play, gain a Wish; otherwise receive a Hex.
Rating
B+ tier. Cost-3 Gold gain is absurdly efficient (Gold normally costs 6). The 7-card condition gates the Wish bonus and risks Hex on the wrong count.
The 7 counts Actions, Treasures, and Night cards played that turn. Hard to land deliberately, easy to mismanage in big-engine turns.
A Wish is "cost 6 Action, +1 Card +1 Action, trash to gain a card costing up to $6" — effectively a free $6 gainer.
How to Play
A $3 Gold gainer is solid baseline.
Mid-game, small engines hit 7 reliably — Wish stream.
Late-game, large engines blow past 7 → Hex spam. Priority drops.
Key Combos
Leprechaun + small engine: Hits 7 reliably, Wish stream.
Leprechaun + Exorcist: Convert Hex Curses to Spirits.
Leprechaun + Chapel: Trash Curses from Hexes.
Synergies
- Chapel: Hex/Curse cleanup.
- Exorcist: Curse-to-Spirit.
- $6 cards via Wish: Gold, Festival, Council Room.
Counters & Bad Matchups
- Large engines: 7 condition fails, Hex spam.
- Curse-stacking attacks: pile-up.
Advanced Tips
Count cards in play before firing Leprechaun.
One Leprechaun is plenty; stacking copies amplifies Hex risk.
Trash Wishes immediately for $6 gains; holding them only nets cantrip value.
