[Dominion] Mint Card Guide - Treasure Clone + Mass Trash

Rating of the Prosperity card Mint. Cost 5 Action. Reveal a Treasure to gain a copy. On buy, trash all Treasures in play.

Mint

Basic Info

  • Type: Action
  • Cost: 5
  • Effect: You may reveal a Treasure from your hand. Gain a copy of it.
  • On-buy: When you buy this, trash all Treasures you have in play.

Rating

Dual identity: Treasure-cloning + mass-trashing on buy. Cloning accelerates BM economy; trashing cleans Coppers for engine transitions.

Overall A tier. Strong in BM (clone Silvers/Golds) and engine pivot (Copper-clear).

Classic line: 5/2 → Mint open. Or play turn with no Treasures in play → buy Mint without losing your stack.

How to Play

5/2 opening: Mint candidate. Mid-game: Gold-cloning for economy.

Mid-game pivot: Use on-buy effect to wipe Coppers when transitioning to engine.

End-game: Platinum cloning accelerates Province jumps.

Key Combos

Mint + Gold/Platinum: Clone high-cost Treasures.

Mint + King's Court: ×3 clones; 3 Golds in a single turn.

Mint + Throne Room: ×2 clones.

Mint + Chapel: Chapel trashes Coppers in deck; Mint's on-buy clears those in play. Combined → super-clean deck.

Mint + Grand Market: Clear Coppers to unlock Grand Market buy condition.

Synergies

  • Gold / Platinum / Hoard: High-cost Treasure cloning.
  • King's Court / Throne Room: Doubled effect.
  • Chapel / Altar: Copper-trash complementarity.
  • Grand Market / Black Market: Buy-condition unlocking.

Counters & Bad Matchups

  • Bank: Mint trashes Bank in play. Buying Mint with Bank in play loses Bank.
  • Hoard: Trash risk.
  • Venture / Hovel: Copper-dependent strategies clash.
  • Heavy terminal collisions.
  • Hard 5-coin boards.

Advanced Tips

Use the on-buy trash deliberately. Slower than Chapel for thinning, but reliable.

Clone on a turn where you DON'T need the Gold played; trash risk on buy turn.

KC + Mint: Triple clone. 3 Golds added in a single turn — strong engine-BM hybrid line.

3-pile end: Cloned Treasures accelerate Province purchases, draining the Province pile.
