Effect and Behavior

Science Rocks is a DLC weapon with a unique activation mechanic: it places explosion zones on the field that detonate only when the player walks through them — not when enemies enter them. This player-activated trigger means positioning and movement route are the core skill. Amount determines the number of explosion clusters generated per activation.

  • Places explosion zones on the field at intervals
  • Zones detonate only when the player moves through them — enemy contact does not trigger explosions
  • Each detonation deals AoE damage to all enemies near the explosion point
  • Amount stat controls how many explosion clusters are generated per activation
  • Mini Scientist (evolution material) is a collab-specific passive for the Scientist Meena DLC character

Evolution

Hold Mini Scientist, level Science Rocks to MAX, then open a treasure chest after 10:00 (evolved form name to be confirmed).

Mini Scientist is a collab passive specific to the Scientist Meena DLC content and functions as both a passive and the evolution material.

Strengths

  • Player-activated explosion mechanic creates a distinct playstyle built around deliberate movement routing
  • High Amount investment covers large portions of the field with clustered zones — moving through them produces chain detonations
  • AoE detonations hit multiple enemies simultaneously near each explosion point
  • Mini Scientist doubles as a passive and evolution material with no loss of efficiency

Weaknesses

  • Zones only trigger when the player passes through them — stationary or slow-moving play cannot activate them
  • Enemies can stand in zones indefinitely with no damage until the player moves through
  • Requires reaching level 50 with Scientist Meena — a character-specific DLC unlock condition
  • Activation efficiency depends heavily on movement route aligning with zone placement

Recommended Characters

Scientist Meena is the prerequisite character. Characters or builds that favor wide-area movement and active repositioning naturally trigger more zones per minute. High-mobility builds that cover large amounts of terrain per run maximize Science Rocks' potential.

Recommended Passives

Passive Reason
Mini Scientist Required evolution material
Spinach Might increase raises explosion damage per detonation
Duplicator Amount increase adds more explosion clusters per activation — the highest-impact passive for coverage
Candelabrador Area increase expands each explosion's radius, hitting more enemies per detonation
Crown Cooldown reduction increases activation frequency, raising zone density on the field

Recommended Arcana

Arcana Effect
IIIII - Chaos in the Dark Night Amount increase generates more clusters, dramatically raising field coverage
XIII - Wicked Season Global stat increases amplify explosion damage and generation frequency

Gameplay Tips

The central skill with Science Rocks is movement routing. Once the field is populated with explosion zones, navigate deliberately through as many of them as possible. Moving through multiple zones in a single pass creates chain detonations that clear large groups.

High Amount investment is the priority after the evolution material. Filling the field with dozens of clusters and then moving through them produces massive sustained AoE damage. Duplicator and Chaos in the Dark Night are the fastest ways to achieve high cluster density.

Expanding Area makes each detonation catch more enemies. With large Area, passing through a zone while surrounded triggers an explosion wide enough to hit everything in range. Aggressive center-field play into dense groups maximizes total AoE hits per second.

FAQ

Q. Do enemies trigger the zones if they walk through them? A. No — only player contact triggers detonation. Enemies can stand inside zones indefinitely without any explosion occurring. The player must move through the zone.

Q. How many clusters does higher Amount add? A. Amount directly scales the number of clusters generated per activation. Each Duplicator copy (or equivalent Amount boost) adds more zones to the field per cycle, significantly improving coverage.

Q. Does the explosion damage the player? A. No — detonations deal damage only to enemies. The player can move through zones freely without taking self-damage.
