Necrobinder Passive Doom Scaling Build
Overview
The Passive Doom Scaling Build wins through attrition. Doom is a debuff that accumulates on enemies each turn via cards and Powers; when Doom stacks equal the enemy's current HP, the enemy dies at the end of that turn regardless of Block or defenses. This build stacks Doom through passive sources — Powers and relics that add Doom automatically — while spending the player's cards entirely on surviving long enough for the threshold to be reached.
Key Cards
- Countdown: Power that passively adds Doom to all enemies at the start of each turn; the backbone of the passive strategy.
- Call of the Void: Power that increases Doom stacks automatically — the faster Doom accumulates, the sooner enemies die.
- Scourge: Skill that applies a burst of Doom stacks in a single play; useful when an enemy is near the threshold.
- No Escape: Skill that either prevents an enemy from acting or applies Doom, buying time during accumulation turns.
- Grave Warden: Skill that provides Block while also interacting with death-related effects, combining survival with Doom setup.
- Defend: Core Block Skill — the build lives and dies by how much damage it can absorb during Doom accumulation.
- Borrowed Time: Skill that delays an enemy's action or provides temporary defense, directly extending your survival window.
Key Relics
- Funerary Mask: Amplifies death-related effects; when enemies die to Doom, this relic triggers for additional value.
- Undying Sigil: Provides HP regeneration or survivability bonuses, sustaining long fights where Doom takes many turns to reach the threshold.
- Bone Flute: Passive HP recovery keeps you healthy through the extended defensive phase.
Strategy
- Obtain Countdown or Call of the Void as early as possible — every turn without a passive Doom source is a turn of wasted scaling.
- Build heavy Block to neutralize incoming damage during the accumulation phase; aim for 15-20 Block per turn by Act 2.
- Use Scourge or other active Doom cards to push enemies over the threshold faster when HP is close.
- In multi-enemy rooms, let passive Doom hit all enemies simultaneously — you may end an entire room in one turn end if all thresholds align.
- Against Bosses with very high HP, supplement passive Doom with occasional direct-damage cards to avoid fights lasting too long.
Pick Priority
- Highest: Countdown, Call of the Void (passive Doom per turn)
- High: Defend, Grave Warden, Borrowed Time (survival cards)
- Medium: Scourge, No Escape (active Doom burst and stall)
- Low: High-cost attack cards; this build does not need raw damage
Tips
- Doom checks against current HP, not max HP. In long fights where you have already dealt some damage, the Doom threshold is lower — be aware of enemy HP at turn end.
- Single-target Bosses are the hardest scenario: passive Doom is slower than AoE Doom against multi-enemy rooms, so carry a few direct-damage cards for Boss insurance.
- Some enemies have Artifact which blocks the first debuff application. Use a throwaway debuff card to pop Artifact before applying Doom.
- Watch for enemies that heal themselves — healing raises their current HP and resets the effective Doom threshold.
