Glaive

Overview

Item Details
English Name Glaive
Japanese Name グレイブ
Chinese Name 长柄刀
Weapon Type Facing-direction stab tech weapon (piercing stab toward the faced direction; glimmers activate the Divine Lancer tech)
Obtained By Find in a run and fully evolve it
Evolution Material None (self-evolves at max level → Feather Spear)
Evolves To Feather Spear
Pickup Priority B

Effect and Behavior

Stabs in the direction the character is currently facing. When the weapon glimmers, the Divine Lancer tech fires — a distinct powerful strike separate from the standard stab output.

Glaive requires no passive item for evolution; reaching max level (Lv 8) alone triggers self-evolution into Feather Spear. Feather Spear itself has its own further evolution, making Glaive the starting point of a two-stage evolution chain. Fully evolving it in a run unlocks it for subsequent runs.

Evolution Conditions

Max Glaive (Lv 8) and open an elite-drop chest after 10:00 to trigger self-evolution into Feather Spear. No additional passive item is required.

Strengths

  • No evolution material required — all passive slots are free for damage and utility upgrades throughout
  • Facing-direction stab concentrates damage in a straight line, high hit rate on enemies directly ahead
  • Divine Lancer tech adds burst damage potential on glimmer procs
  • Evolution into Feather Spear provides piercing capability and Stardust tech, continuing the offensive chain
  • Self-evolution timing is predictable and independent of passive availability

Weaknesses

  • Facing-only stab provides no side or rear coverage
  • Divine Lancer tech fires only on glimmers — cannot be reliably activated on demand
  • Initial acquisition requires finding it in a run
  • Two-stage evolution chain (Glaive → Feather Spear → final) adds complexity to long-run planning

Recommended Characters

  • Imelda: +10% Growth reaches max level faster, transitioning into Feather Spear earlier
  • Forward-aggressive characters that push into enemy groups: the facing-direction stab aligns naturally with this combat style
  • Multi-weapon characters: all passive slots free throughout the Glaive phase allows full focus on other weapon evolution materials

Recommended Passives

  • Duplicator: Amount increase adds simultaneous stabs for wider straight-line coverage and higher burst (top priority)
  • Spinach: +10% Might raises damage on both stab hits and Divine Lancer tech
  • Tome: Duration increase extends how long each stab projectile travels
  • Bracer: projectile speed increase extends effective stab range

Synergistic Arcanas

  • III Tragic Princess: Amount increase further raises simultaneous stab count per activation
  • IX Divine Bloodline: crit compounding on stab hits and Divine Lancer tech raises DPS

Strategy and Tips

  • Early (0–10 min): Level Glaive with all passive slots focused on damage — no evolution material slot consumed. Duplicator and Spinach are top priorities. Position so the facing direction covers the densest incoming enemy flow.
  • Mid (10–20 min): Reach Lv8 and open a post-10:00 elite chest for self-evolution into Feather Spear. Feather Spear adds a piercing lance attack — charging into enemy clusters becomes more effective as each stab passes through multiple enemies.
  • Late (20+ min): As Feather Spear, high Amount raises a continuous volley of piercing lances in the facing direction. Divine Lancer's successor, Stardust tech, also fires on glimmers for similar burst spikes.

FAQ

Q: How do I unlock Glaive?
A: Find it in a run, level it to max, and fully evolve it into Feather Spear — after completing the evolution, Glaive becomes consistently available in subsequent runs.

Q: Does Glaive need a passive item to evolve?
A: No — it self-evolves at max level (Lv 8) when an elite-drop chest is opened after 10:00. No passive item slot is consumed, leaving all slots free for other upgrades.

Q: What is the Divine Lancer tech?
A: A special attack that fires when the weapon glimmers. It deals more damage than the standard stab in a distinct strike. Glimmer timing is random and cannot be reliably controlled, but the additional output when it fires is substantial.
