Punch

Overview

Item Details
English Name Punch
Chinese Name 冲拳
How to Unlock Level Punch to 6 in a run
Evolution Material None (auto-evolves at MAX level)
Evolves To Pressure Point
Pickup Priority B

Effect and Behavior

Punch attacks exclusively to the sides (left and right) — it has no forward or backward coverage. This strictly horizontal attack pattern makes positioning relative to enemy approach paths the central skill. It can trigger the "Raksha" glimmer tech for a powerful bonus burst. When leveled to MAX, it automatically evolves into Pressure Point without requiring any passive item.

  • Attack coverage is left-right only; front and back have no hit detection
  • Position the player so enemies approach from the sides to maximize contact
  • Glimmer tech "Raksha" (Raksha Palm) fires an additional powerful burst during glimmer state
  • Auto-evolves to Pressure Point at MAX level — open a chest after 10:00 to trigger

Evolution

Level Punch to MAX and open a treasure chest after 10:00. No passive item is required. Evolving into Pressure Point unlocks its own glimmer tech, "Shenlong Firefist," which is stronger than Punch's Raksha.

Glimmer Tech: Raksha (Raksha Palm)

During glimmer state, Punch may trigger "Raksha" — a powerful additional strike that deals significantly more damage than a normal swing. Higher Might amplifies the Raksha burst, making Spinach the highest-priority passive for both normal damage and glimmer tech output.

Strengths

  • Auto-evolves into Pressure Point without a passive slot requirement — no evolution opportunity to miss
  • Horizontal attack pattern cleanly handles enemies approaching from the sides in dense horizontal waves
  • Raksha glimmer tech delivers a large damage spike when triggered
  • Strong Might scaling — Spinach investment provides high returns

Weaknesses

  • Zero coverage in the forward and backward directions; vertical approach enemies are not addressed
  • Short effective range for a close-range weapon
  • Glimmer tech relies on glimmer state activation — cannot be triggered on demand
  • Requires a complementary weapon with vertical or orbital coverage for well-rounded defense

Recommended Characters

Characters who start with Punch or who reach level 6 quickly are ideal. Stages where enemies funnel in from the sides benefit most from the horizontal-only attack.

Recommended Passives

Passive Reason
Spinach Might increase raises both normal swing damage and the Raksha glimmer tech burst
Crown Cooldown reduction increases swing frequency and creates more glimmer tech opportunities
Duplicator Amount increase adds more horizontal projectiles per activation
Candelabrador Area increase extends horizontal reach
Bracer Projectile speed widens the effective hit range in the horizontal direction

Recommended Arcana

Arcana Effect
IIIII - Chaos in the Dark Night More projectiles increase horizontal attack density
XIII - Wicked Season Global stat increases amplify glimmer tech and normal swing damage

Gameplay Tips

The core habit with Punch is directional positioning — keep enemies approaching from the sides so swings connect consistently. Use a second weapon with orbital or forward coverage to handle enemies that approach from above and below.

Invest in Might before evolving to maximize the Raksha glimmer tech. When the weapon evolves into Pressure Point, the "Shenlong Firefist" glimmer tech inherits the Might investment and becomes substantially stronger.

Watch the 10:00 mark for the chest — this is when the auto-evolution from Punch to Pressure Point becomes available, unlocking the superior glimmer tech.

FAQ

Q. Can any character unlock Punch at level 6? A. Yes — any character who picks up Punch during a run and levels it to 6 unlocks it.

Q. Is a passive item required for evolution? A. No — Punch auto-evolves to Pressure Point at MAX level. Open a chest after 10:00 and evolution triggers automatically.

Q. What exactly is the Raksha glimmer tech? A. During glimmer state, Punch triggers an additional powerful strike called Raksha that deals significantly more damage than a standard swing. Might directly amplifies its output.
