Shuriken

Overview

Item Details
English Name Shuriken
Japanese Name 手裏剣
Chinese Name 手里剑
Weapon Type Forward-thrown rapid projectile (movement-tracking)
Evolution Material Empty Tome
Evolves To Yagyu Shuriken
Pickup Priority B

Effect and Behavior

Throws high-speed shurikens in the player's current movement direction. The firing angle automatically tracks the direction of movement, so walking toward a group of enemies naturally delivers a barrage into them. Level scaling increases projectile count, damage, and speed — at high levels multiple shurikens fan out from the same firing point.

Empty Tome's cooldown reduction stacks directly with the rapid-fire nature of Shuriken: shorter intervals mean more projectiles per second and substantially higher DPS. The intended play pattern is constant movement into enemy clusters, letting the weapon suppress whatever lies ahead.

Evolution Conditions

Max Shuriken (Lv 8), carry Empty Tome (reduces cooldown), and open an elite-drop chest after 10:00 to evolve into Yagyu Shuriken.

Yagyu Shuriken Effect

After evolution an enlarged shuriken spins rapidly through enemies with high pierce, cutting through dense columns of enemies in a single pass. DPS and area coverage increase sharply — Yagyu Shuriken is a capable late-game main weapon that handles dense waves efficiently.

Strengths

  • Fast projectiles reach enemies quickly with minimal delay
  • Movement-tracking makes aiming automatic — just walk toward threats
  • Empty Tome synergy reduces cooldown dramatically, raising effective DPS
  • Post-evolution pierce makes dense enemy columns very efficient to clear

Weaknesses

  • Fires only in the movement direction — rear and flanking enemies require another weapon
  • Pre-evolution per-shot damage is modest; mid-game DPS can feel low
  • Empty Tome is contested by many other weapon evolutions and DPS builds
  • Horizontal enemy columns are harder to hit efficiently

Recommended Characters

  • Gennaro: extra projectile count adds thrown shurikens per volley
  • Imelda: +10% Growth speeds evolution
  • Antonio: movement speed bonus increases the rate of forward-fired shurikens

Recommended Passives

  • Empty Tome: mandatory for evolution; cooldown reduction is a large DPS multiplier
  • Duplicator: extra projectile count adds shurikens per throw
  • Bracer: higher projectile speed extends range
  • Spinach: +10% Might raises per-shuriken damage

Synergistic Arcanas

  • V Awake: cooldown reduction stacks with Empty Tome to maximize fire rate
  • IX Divine Bloodline: crit compounding with high-frequency throws

Strategy and Tips

  • Early (0–10 min): Level Shuriken and prioritize Empty Tome to reduce cooldown and increase fire rate. Keep moving — let movement direction serve as your aim.
  • Mid (10–20 min): Hit Lv MAX + Empty Tome → evolve into Yagyu Shuriken. Pierce lets you slice through enemy columns rather than hitting one at a time.
  • Late (20+ min): Add Duplicator and Bracer to push projectile count and range. Use a full-coverage weapon to handle rear and flanking threats.

FAQ

Q: Does the shuriken always fire in my movement direction?
A: Yes — it tracks movement direction automatically. When you stop, it continues firing in the last direction you moved.

Q: Empty Tome is used by other weapons too — how do I choose?
A: Decide your priority evolution early in the run. Empty Tome is one of the most competitive passives in the game; commit to one weapon path first.

Q: Can Yagyu Shuriken handle rear enemies?
A: It gains pierce and wider coverage, but it remains fundamentally forward-firing. Keep a full-coverage weapon in your build for flanking and rear threats.
