Gatti Amari

Overview

Item Details
English Name Gatti Amari
Japanese Name 獰猛な猫
Chinese Name 彪悍猫
Weapon Type Random-direction cat projectile (friendly fire)
Evolution Material Stone Mask
Evolves To Vicious Hunger
Pickup Priority B (mind the friendly fire)

Effect and Behavior

Hurls cats in random directions, dealing heavy damage on enemy contact. The catch: cats can also hit the player, dealing real self-damage. Level scaling increases projectile count, power, and speed.

High randomness means you can't target specific enemies, but the shotgun spread connects reliably against dense crowds. Self-damage matters less as max HP grows — HP-boosting passives like Hollow Heart effectively neutralize the friendly-fire risk.

Giovanna (014) starts with Gatti Amari and has a built-in passive that makes self-damage significantly less punishing.

Evolution Conditions

Max Gatti Amari (Lv 8), carry Stone Mask (lifesteal passive), and open an elite-drop chest after 10:00 to evolve into Vicious Hunger.

Vicious Hunger Effect

After evolution the cats transform into eye projectiles that drain HP from enemies and heal the player on hit. Friendly fire disappears entirely. The lifesteal from Stone Mask and Vicious Hunger together create a highly self-sustaining weapon in dense waves.

Strengths

  • Random scatter maintains high hit rate in dense enemy waves
  • Post-evolution removes friendly fire completely
  • Vicious Hunger's HP drain enables self-sustain builds
  • Excellent synergy with Stone Mask's lifesteal

Weaknesses

  • Friendly fire can meaningfully chip the player's HP
  • Random targeting makes single-boss DPS unreliable
  • Low max HP builds are especially vulnerable to self-hits
  • Pre-evolution requires leveling while accepting self-damage risk

Recommended Characters

  • Giovanna: starts with Gatti Amari; built-in bonus tames self-damage
  • Gennaro: extra projectile count adds cats
  • Imelda: +10% Growth speeds evolution

Recommended Passives

  • Stone Mask: mandatory for evolution; lifesteal is independently useful
  • Hollow Heart: higher max HP neutralizes friendly fire damage
  • Pummarola: recovery rate patches self-inflicted HP loss
  • Spinach: +10% Might raises per-cat damage

Synergistic Arcanas

  • VI Sarabande of Healing: lifesteal + recovery for high-Curse survival
  • XIII Wicked Season: maximizes Vicious Hunger's drain return

Strategy and Tips

  • Early (0–10 min): Level Gatti Amari and stack Hollow Heart early to blunt friendly fire. Collect Stone Mask in parallel.
  • Mid (10–20 min): Hit Lv MAX + Stone Mask → evolve into Vicious Hunger. Friendly fire eliminated; the weapon stabilizes into reliable area clear.
  • Late (20+ min): Sustain HP through Vicious Hunger's drain against dense waves. Pair with a focused single-target weapon for boss kills.

FAQ

Q: How dangerous is the friendly fire?
A: At low max HP it hurts significantly. Stack Hollow Heart and Pummarola and it becomes a non-issue.

Q: Is Gatti Amari good against bosses?
A: Random targeting makes single-target DPS unreliable — treat it as a crowd-clear weapon.

Q: Worth running without Giovanna?
A: Yes, but HP passives are mandatory. Without Giovanna's built-in bonus, self-damage requires more active management.
