Wind Whip

Overview

Item Details
English Name Wind Whip
Japanese Name 風の鞭
Chinese Name 劲风神鞭
Weapon Type Whip (Growth-stat-dependent damage)
Evolution Material Crown
Evolves To Spirit Tornado Tip
Pickup Priority B

Effect and Behavior

A wind-powered whip whose damage scales with the Growth stat — the same stat that accelerates experience point gain. Running a Growth-focused build simultaneously raises Wind Whip's damage output and the run's overall leveling speed, making them mutually reinforcing. Level scaling increases whip damage, reach, and fire rate.

Unlocked by surviving 12 minutes with Simon Belmond (Castlevania DLC). Crown — the evolution material — also increases XP gain by 10%, aligning perfectly with the Growth scaling theme. Note that Crown is also the evolution material for Luminatio (into Vol Luminatio), so the two weapons compete for the same passive slot if run together.

Evolution Conditions

Max Wind Whip (Lv 8), carry Crown (a passive that increases XP gain by 10%), and open an elite-drop chest after 10:00 to evolve into Spirit Tornado Tip.

Crown competes with Luminatio's evolution requirement — if running both weapons simultaneously, plan which to evolve first and get that weapon to max level before the chest opens.

Spirit Tornado Tip Effect

After evolution every 7th weapon activation summons a spirit that rapidly collects all nearby XP gems automatically. The spirit sweeps the screen aggressively, picking up gems the player would have had to move toward manually. In late-game scenarios where enemy density creates thick gem fields on the ground, the spirit's automatic collection accelerates level-up cycles substantially.

Strengths

  • Growth-stat scaling creates a dual benefit: higher Growth = more damage AND faster leveling
  • Crown's XP bonus reinforces the Growth synergy from the moment it's picked up
  • Post-evolution spirit auto-collects XP gems on every 7th activation — passive economy boost
  • Thematically consistent Castlevania DLC whip weapon

Weaknesses

  • Requires the Castlevania DLC
  • Unlocked only by surviving 12 minutes with Simon Belmond
  • Crown competes with Luminatio's evolution — cannot evolve both weapons if only one Crown is available
  • Damage scaling underperforms in non-Growth builds

Recommended Characters

  • Simon Belmond: the unlock character — natural starting fit
  • Imelda: +10% Growth directly raises Wind Whip's damage and the entire run's leveling speed
  • Characters with Growth bonuses: double down on the Growth-damage scaling

Recommended Passives

  • Crown: mandatory for evolution; XP gain bonus reinforces the Growth build from pickup (top priority)
  • Growth-boosting passives: maximize both the damage scaling and leveling acceleration
  • Spinach: +10% Might raises base damage as a flat modifier on top of Growth scaling
  • Bracer: higher speed extends whip reach

Synergistic Arcanas

  • VII Seventh Trumpet: XP and Growth bonuses push both Wind Whip damage and Spirit Tornado Tip's gem collection efficiency
  • IX Divine Bloodline: crit compounding with high-Growth damage for burst potential

Strategy and Tips

  • Early (0–10 min): Level Wind Whip and pick up Crown early — the XP bonus applies immediately and speeds up leveling for all weapons. Imelda or Growth passives compound both the damage output and the leveling rate.
  • Mid (10–20 min): Hit Lv MAX + Crown → evolve into Spirit Tornado Tip. The spirit's gem collection is most valuable when large enemy waves are leaving dense XP fields on the ground.
  • Late (20+ min): Spirit Tornado Tip's automatic gem collection accelerates late-game leveling. Maintain high Growth to keep both the damage scaling and collection efficiency at their peak.

FAQ

Q: How do I unlock Wind Whip?
A: Survive 12 minutes with Simon Belmond. The Castlevania DLC is required.

Q: Does Crown conflict with Luminatio's evolution?
A: Yes — Crown is the evolution material for both Wind Whip (→ Spirit Tornado Tip) and Luminatio (→ Vol Luminatio). Running both in the same run means choosing which to evolve first.

Q: What happens to damage if I don't build Growth?
A: Damage is directly tied to the Growth stat — low Growth = lower damage. The weapon performs below its ceiling without Growth investment. Pair it with Imelda, Crown, or Growth-boosting arcanas for full effectiveness.
