Polyphemus
Overview
Polyphemus is the giant Cyclops of Greek myth, appearing as the boss of the City of Ephyra — the first layer of the Surface route. A massive one-eyed brute, he fights with raw strength using ground slams, rock throws, and charges across the circular arena.
Attack Patterns
| Attack | Description |
|---|---|
| Fist Slam | Crashes his enormous fist down; large recovery window to punish |
| Rock Throw | Hurls boulders as ranged projectiles; sidestep to avoid |
| Ground Stomp | Stamps the floor sending out a shockwave in all directions |
| Charge | Lumbers forward in a straight line; dodge laterally |
| Eye Beam (Phase 2) | Below half HP, fires a wide linear beam from his eye that sweeps from one side of the arena to the other |
Strategy
Stay under or beside him to avoid most ranged attacks, and always punish after his fist slam — the recovery is long. At half HP, the Eye Beam sweeps the full width of the arena; circle behind him before it fires to avoid it entirely. Never retreat toward the arena edge when the beam is active, as that puts you in its path. Omega attacks and charged abilities are best saved for slam and stomp recovery windows to maximize burst damage.
Rewards
Defeating Polyphemus drops Wool and advances Surface route progression toward the Rift of Thessaly.
