Danger: S Rank (worst tier)

Together with Bad Luck, Normality is the most devastating curse in the game. Just having it in hand caps you at 3 cards played this turn, utterly crippling engine decks and combo decks. Even with abundant draw power and energy relics, the 3-card ceiling slashes your output. For Ironclad Exhaust chains and combo-heavy decks that rely on playing many cards per turn, this is lethal. It's also not tied to drawing it - the limit applies every time it's in hand, which makes rapid removal essential. A 75g shop removal is a steal.

Sources and Related Events

  • Drawn from random curse pools (events, relics, etc). Normality is one of the worst possible results in that pool
  • Ancient Vakuu's blessing "Sere Talon": grants 2 random curses and 3 wishes. If Normality is in the draw, the wishes may not justify the cost
  • Possible outcome when choosing to take a curse at a "?" tile event

Counterplay and Play Pattern

  • Shop removal: 75g (+25g per subsequent removal). Make Normality the highest-priority removal target
  • Blue Candle: lets you play a curse for 1 HP (Exhausting it). Playing Normality during combat clears the 3-card limit, but note that the play itself counts against those 3
  • Omamori: negates 2 curses, preventing Normality before it lands
  • Darkstone Periapt: +6 Max HP on curse acquisition, a safety net if Normality is unavoidable
  • Don't inflate the deck: a thinner deck increases the chance of drawing Normality. While it's still in your deck, keeping the deck thicker reduces draw frequency

Good Synergies

  • Blue Candle: play Normality for 1 HP to Exhaust it. The definitive counter
  • Fire Breathing (Ironclad): damage when drawing Statuses or Curses. Fires every time Normality is drawn
  • Feel No Pain (Ironclad): Block on Exhaust. Combine with Blue Candle to Exhaust Normality for Block
  • High-cost, few-plays builds: decks that already play only a handful of heavy cards per turn barely notice the limit
