Rating
Danger: A Rank
A high-damage Status that deals 6 damage at end of turn if it's in your hand. Compared to Burn (2) or Infection (3), the per-card hit is severe - one trigger alone can swing the flow of a fight. Multiple copies quickly push you to 12 or 18 damage a turn, which is lethal territory. It's also unplayable, so it clogs your hand. Worst of all, Beckon's damage is HP loss - Block doesn't mitigate it. Whether you have a Medical Kit can quite literally be life or death.
Sources and Related Enemies
- Added to your deck by summoning- or enticement-themed monsters - the "beckoning" enemy archetype
- Because the damage is so high, the pool of enemies applying it is relatively small
- Status cards exist only during combat and are removed automatically after combat ends
Counterplay and Play Pattern
- Medical Kit: play the Status to Exhaust it. The best way to stop the 6-damage hit. Medical Kit is essentially mandatory when Beckon is on the table
- Quick finish: end combat before multiple Beckons land. Prioritize killing the source
- Manage draw: emptying your hand the turn you draw Beckon is hard, but minimizing what remains helps
- Block doesn't help: Beckon's damage is direct HP loss, bypassing Block
Good Synergies
- Medical Kit: play Beckon to Exhaust it. Immediately neutralizes the 6 damage
- Evolve (Ironclad): extra draw on Status draw. Replaces the clogged hand slot
- Fire Breathing (Ironclad): damage on Status draw, clawing back at least some of Beckon's big hit
- Feel No Pain (Ironclad): Block when Medical Kit Exhausts Beckon
