A Status you can play for 1 energy to Exhaust, but if left in hand at end of turn it deals 5 damage. Unlike Slimed or Debris, ignoring it has real consequences - you basically have to spend the 1 energy to play it the turn you draw it. 5 damage isn't something you can shrug off, and any turn without enough energy to play Toxic hurts. Dealing with it is easy mechanically, but the mix of forced 1-energy spend and 5-damage risk puts it clearly ahead of Slimed or Debris in danger.

- Added to your deck by poison- and corrosion-themed monsters
- Some enemies apply multiple copies in a single attack, cratering your energy in one swing
- Status cards exist only during combat and are removed automatically after combat ends
Counterplay and Play Pattern
- Play the turn you draw it: pay 1 energy to Exhaust and avoid the 5 damage
- Energy management: keep 1 energy reserved for Toxic. With 3 base energy, you'll effectively fight on 2
- Medical Kit: not needed since Toxic is already playable, but lets you handle it safely when you have it
- Quick finish: end combat before Toxic stacks
Good Synergies
- Feel No Pain (Ironclad): Block when Toxic Exhausts. Turns cleanup into Block
- Charon's Ashes (Ironclad): 3 damage to all enemies on card Exhaust. Toxic cleanup becomes damage
- General Exhaust synergies: Toxic feeds your Exhaust count
- Fire Breathing (Ironclad): damage on Status draw
- Evolve (Ironclad): extra draw on Status draw. Gives you another card when Toxic lands
- 0-cost cards: after Toxic takes 1 energy, 0-cost cards still enable extra plays
