Basic Info
- HP: 250 (Ascension: 260)
- Appears in: Underdocks
- Submap: Underdocks
- Passive: Steam Vent — used on turn 1. When killed, deals damage at the end of your next turn.
250 HP is among the highest for Underdocks bosses. Steam Vent's death rattle hit means you can't relax even after the kill. Pressurize and Pressure Cannon gimmicks plus HP drain make this a tough boss that handles both long and short fights.
Attack Patterns
| Action | Damage | Effect |
|---|---|---|
| Pressurize | — | Buff stacking Pressure |
| Stomp | 15 | Attack |
| Charge | 10 | Attack |
| Siphon | — | HP drain (heals for damage dealt) |
| Pressure Cannon | — | Heavy damage scaling with accumulated Pressure |
| Pressure Boost | — | Buff that amplifies Pressurize's rate |
The core pattern stacks Pressure every turn with Pressurize, then fires Pressure Cannon to dump it all at once. Pressure Boost speeds up the accumulation, making the next Pressure Cannon spike hard. A boosted Pressure Cannon is lethal, so when Pressure Boost telegraphs, max out Block for the next Cannon.
Siphon is the annoying heal action. HP you worked hard to chip gets returned, so damage efficiency takes a massive hit.
Strategy
Killing Waterfall Giant fast is the top priority. Pressure keeps accumulating over time, and Pressure Boost accelerates it further. Drawn-out fights inflate Pressure Cannon past your Block. Siphon heals chip away progress — dithering drags you into a losing war of attrition.
Don't forget Steam Vent (the death rattle). At the end of your next turn after the kill, you take damage, so secure Block on the kill turn and the one after. Steam Vent is softened by Weak, so applying Weak right before the kill cuts damage significantly.
Letting Siphon heal through stretches the fight. Since heal is based on damage dealt, stacking Block on Siphon turns to reduce incoming damage is one option. The surest approach is simply not letting Siphon fire multiple times before the kill.
Pressure Cannon timing is somewhat predictable. It fires after several Pressurize turns, so when you see Pressurize, prepare Block for big damage within the next few turns. Post-Pressure Boost is especially dangerous.
Character-Specific Counterplay
- Ironclad: Overwhelm Siphon's heal with high damage and rush the kill. Barricade or Metallicize stockpiles Block for Steam Vent. Any Weak application softens Steam Vent damage.
- Silent: Weak shrinks both Steam Vent and Pressure Cannon, great matchup. Steady Poison chip while Doppelganger or Footwork secure Block on Pressure Cannon turns.
- Defect: Frost Orbs prepare for Pressure Cannon and Steam Vent while Lightning/Dark chip HP. Enough Frost absorbs Pressure Cannon damage. With 250 HP, Dark Orb farming matters.
- Necrobinder: Minion attacks chip HP reliably, but Steam Vent and Pressure Cannon land on the player. Minion damage alone takes a while to chew 250 HP — combine with personal output to rush the kill.
- Regent: Power-based chip damage works well against high HP. Deploy Powers early to tick reliably. Always keep a Block option available for Steam Vent.
