• Purchase one of the following fake Relics (one is randomly presented)
• Fake versions with weaker effects than the genuine Relics

Use the Stench Potion

• If you own a Stench Potion, you can use it on the merchant. A combat with the merchant begins
• Victory rewards:
  • 300 Gold
  • All Relics on sale (every fake Relic shown)
  • Unique Relic "Merchant's Rug" (no effect)

Note: "Merchant's Rug" does not appear in the purchase options. It is a combat-only reward Relic obtainable only by winning the Stench Potion fight.

• Nothing happens

If you have a Stench Potion, using it and fighting is overwhelmingly the best play. 300 Gold plus every on-sale Relic plus a unique Relic is absurd value. Check that your deck can handle the fight before committing.

If you do not have a Stench Potion, read the effect of the presented Relic and decide. Fake Relics are inferior to the genuine versions but are cheap, so with extra Gold a purchase can be fine.

• Presented Relics are downgraded versions. For example, the real Mango gives Max HP +14 but the fake only gives +3
• Stench Potions usually have limited use, so saving one for this event can return a massive payoff
• It acts as extra shopping outside the normal Shop rooms, useful if you routed past a Shop earlier
• If you have less than 100 Gold and no Stench Potion, the event does not appear at all
• The fake Snecko Eye only gives Confused with no bonus draw — be careful
