Rating & Analysis

Perkeo is a hybrid economy/scaling Legendary that "snowballs consumables into Negatives that live outside your slots." Negative consumables don't consume a consumable slot, so you can effectively stockpile strong consumables without limit. Black Hole (levels up every hand), the Soul (Legendary Joker), The Fool, The Devil, The Emperor, The Hanged Man, and other powerhouses can all be turned Negative and stashed away each Ante for a virtuous loop.

Its real power comes from deliberately leaving strong consumables in hand when exiting the shop. If you find a Black Hole in the shop, don't use it right away — leave the shop holding it so Perkeo makes a Negative Black Hole. The Negative copy persists through use, giving you near-permanent hand level boosts. A Perkeo + Black Hole + The Fool (regenerates the last used consumable) loop is one of Balatro's strongest permanent scaling chains.

Good Consumables (Negative Priority)

Tips & Usage

  • Don't instantly use strong consumables (Black Hole, Soul, Fool); carry them out of the shop so Perkeo turns them Negative.
  • If your consumable slots are full on shop exit, one random card is picked for the Negative copy. Hold only the card you want to copy for maximum efficiency.
  • Placing Blueprint to Perkeo's right gives you two Negative copies per shop exit — a rapid snowball.
  • Fool → Black Hole → Fool regeneration → Black Hole again loops are easiest to set up with Perkeo + Magic Deck.
  • Actively chase consumable-related tags like Ethereal, Charm, and Meteor — more seeds even outside the shop.

Caveats

  • If your consumable slot is empty on shop exit, nothing is created. Always keep at least one consumable.
  • The Negative target is random. Holding a consumable you don't care about risks it being chosen.
  • Eternal is still fine; Perkeo becomes unsellable but that barely impacts the build.
  • Perishable can't be attached to Perkeo (Legendaries are immune to Perishable).
