Rating & Analysis
Mercury is a Planet card that levels up Pair by 1, adding +15 Chips and +1 Mult when scored. Pair is the easiest hand to land, and the combo with The Duo is powerful.
Balatro's Planet cards are an extremely important resource because they permanently raise hand level. The go-to strategy is concentrating planets on your main hand, aiming to push it to level 10–20 by Ante 8.

Tips & Usage
- Narrow your main hand down to 1–2 types and prioritise matching planets. Spreading investment is inefficient.
- Once you have Perkeo, turn planets Negative for effectively permanent use. Synergy with Constellation or Observatory detonates.
- Black Hole (Spectral) gives +1 level to every hand. Always strong even outside hand-focused builds.
- Orbital Tag gives a named hand +3 levels. If it hits your main hand, it's worth three planets.
