The power scales with hit count — more hits = more lightning bugs spawned = more simultaneous chain lightning attacks firing across the field. In high-bounce environments with many wall contacts, a single Lightning Bug ball can generate dozens of lightning bugs over a full round, creating substantial background DPS that compounds with every throw.
