Offspring
Effect
Splits into a clone on hit X times.
Usage Tips
- Offspring has a limited split count (X times) rather than splitting infinitely. This means the early hits of each throw are the most valuable — each split multiplies your active projectiles, but the original ball eventually exhausts its split count and continues as a normal ball.
- In a single throw, Offspring can produce up to 2^X balls if every clone also inherits the split behavior. Aim at clusters so every generation of clone immediately contacts another enemy.
- Because the split count is finite per throw, Offspring's power is front-loaded within each run. Combine with character abilities or passives that reset or extend the clone counter to maximize total output.
Synergies
- Works well with Cell: Cell also splits into 2 clones on impact. Running both Cell and Offspring in the same build creates a compounding multiplication of active projectiles — each split ball is another potential hit source.
- Works well with Virus (Cell evolution): the Virus ball applies Poison stacks with every hit; if Offspring generates many clone hits, each one independently applies Poison stacks, rapidly maxing the DoT.
- Works well with bounce-count passives: more bounces extend the number of opportunities Offspring has to split before exhausting its counter, effectively increasing total projectile output per throw.
