Rating

Petrify is an A-tier ball specialized in opening-round crowd control. Its defining ability fires only once: on its very first launch, it simultaneously petrifies every enemy visible in its sightline for X seconds. Petrification is a complete immobilization, similar to freeze — enemies cannot move or act.

The "first launch only" limitation is real, but the value of stopping all enemies simultaneously at round start is massive. Those X seconds of mass immobilization give you a free window to set up AOE, stack DOTs, or burst critical targets without any incoming damage. After the first launch, Petrify acts as a normal ball, but the opening CC already paid for itself.

When to Pick

  • Builds that want a guaranteed safe opening window every round
  • Burst combo setups that need targets immobilized before detonating
  • Stages with dangerous early waves where instant mass CC prevents overwhelming rushes
  • Any build benefiting from a damage-free setup phase at round start

Tips

  1. Launch at round start — Petrify only fires once; use it at the very beginning of a round when maximum enemies are visible
  2. Pour in all other balls during petrify — the immobilization window is free time; use every other ball you have during it
  3. Include in dangerous wave setups — if you anticipate a hard opening, Petrify neutralizes it completely
  4. Chain into other CC — after petrify expires, chain into Freeze, Blizzard, or Wraith to extend the immobilized state
