[Dominion] Remake Card Guide - Fast Thinning + Upgrade
Rating of the Cornucopia card Remake. Cost 4 Action. Twice: trash a card, gain a card costing exactly 1 more.
Remake
Basic Info
- Type: Action
- Cost: 4
- Effect: Do this twice: Trash a card from your hand, then gain a card costing exactly 1 more than it.
Rating
A potent thinner + upgrader. Cost 4: "trash 2 + gain 2 (each at exactly +1 cost)". Second only to Chapel for thinning, but with built-in upgrade.
Big strength: thinning + deck strengthening at once. Estate (cost 2) → cost-3 (Silver, Hamlet, Fortune Teller, etc.). Estate → Silver doublings are common, drastically improving early decks.
Weakness: "+1 exactly" constraint. Estate→Gold or Curse→Silver impossible.
Overall A. Top-tier thinner alongside Chapel and Masquerade. Cost-4 contender for top pick.
How to Play
Open 4-coin: Remake top pick on 4/3. Early turns convert Estates to Silvers / Hamlets, Coppers to cost-1 (rare).
Mid-game: Remake each turn, thin and upgrade. Estate-7 → Silver-7 alone is huge.
End-game: Remake's value drops. Estates / Coppers run out, no targets.
Trash + Gain Combinations
- Estate (2) → cost-3 (Silver, Village, Fortune Teller, Remodel, Ambassador, etc.)
- Copper (0) → cost-1 (rare expansion cards; Curse same cost not allowed)
- Silver (3) → cost-4 (Witch, Throne Room, etc.)
- Gold (6) → cost-7 (no Province since 8)
- Curse (0) → cost-1 (just trash effectively)
Practical: Estate→cost-3, Silver→cost-4. Remake-driven upgrades define the strategy.
Key Combos
Remake + Chapel: Chapel mass-trashes Coppers / Estates, Remake upgrades remaining.
Remake + Witch / Young Witch: trash own Curses, gain cost-1.
Remake + Masquerade: dual thinning for ultra-fast engine.
Remake + Bridge: cost-cut shifts targets (rules-strict: Remake's "+1" computes when used).
Remake + Tournament: gain Province → Remake into cost-9 card (rare expansion). Or trash unwanted Province for thinning.
Remake + Festival / Market: thin + engine build.
Synergies
- Chapel / Masquerade: thinning stack.
- Witch / Young Witch: Curse-cycle.
- Remodel / Expand: trash-gain chain (Remake fixed +1, Remodel any +2, Expand any +3).
- Bridge: cost reduction.
- Throne Room: doubled to 4-trash + 4-gain.
- Silver / Gold: treasure upgrade source.
- Tournament: Province → cost-9 card swap.
Counters & Bad Matchups
- Thinned deck: no targets.
- Strong-card spam: don't want to trash strong cards.
- BM mid-game: trashing Silver/Gold harms economy.
- Late Province phase: only Provinces / Duchies in hand, no want to trash.
Advanced Tips
"3 Estates in 3 turns into 3 Silvers" is canonical. 2 Remakes + 6 Estate→Silver upgrades.
Remake's "twice" allows 0 / 1 / 2 executions. If no trash target, skip.
"Remake + Chapel" canonical thinning combo. Chapel trashes 4 Coppers, Remake upgrades Estates → Silvers. ~10 turns to ultra-thinned deck.
Curse-spread decks: Remake to trash Curses → cost-1 gain (fizzle, just thin).
Multi-Remake: 2-3 Remakes thin starter (3 Estates + 7 Coppers = 10) into 5-7 cards rapidly.
Note: Remake fixed-twice. Order: trash → gain → trash → gain.
