[Wildfrost Guide] Complete Clunker Guide

A guide to Clunkers (mechanical units)—their mechanics, tier ratings, and how to use them.

How Scrap works

Clunkers use Scrap instead of HP. The big difference from regular units: regardless of how hard an attack hits, a Clunker only loses 1 Scrap per hit.

Pros

  • Even high-damage attacks only cost 1 Scrap
  • Scrap fully recovers at the end of battle
  • No healing needed, so no burden on healers
  • Charms equipped to Clunkers aren't copied in the final battle

Cons

  • Enemies with Frenzy attack multiple times, shredding Clunkers instantly
  • Shroom triggers also cost 1 Scrap
  • Limited healing options (only Scrap addition)
  • A Scrap-1 Clunker effectively breaks from a single hit

Charms equipped to Clunkers are not copied in the Eye of the Storm final battle. Placing strong charms on Clunkers is a safe strategy.

How reactions work

Many Clunkers use reactions (auto-trigger conditions) instead of counters. When the condition is met, they fire their attack or effect instantly—no counter needed.

Trigger Relevant Clunkers
When an ally in the row attacks Mimic, Mega Mimic
When attacked Teeth Box, Shroom Bomb, Junk Head
When Snow hits Kobonker
When Bomb hits Bomarder
When Junk is destroyed Blunder Tank
When an enemy is killed Bling Bank
When destroyed Sunglasses Chime, Haze Balloon

Positioning tips

  • Reaction-type Clunkers (Mimic, etc.) belong in the same row as attackers. They auto-hit bonus damage every time the ally attacks.
  • On-hit triggers (Teeth Box, Shroom Bomb) go in the front row to eat enemy attacks.
  • Buff types (Mobile Campfire, Gachaponker) go in the same row as your ace attacker.
  • Scrap-1 Clunkers stay in the back row for protection. Exception: Sunglasses Chime can go front when you want to control break timing.
  • Clunkers fully recover Scrap at end of battle, so don't fear wearing them out—use them aggressively.

Tier S — Top priority Clunkers

Gachaponker

Effect: Gives Barrage to allies in the same row

Applying Barrage is among the strongest effects in the entire game. Slap Barrage on a Spice-loaded ally and they deal massive AoE damage.

Pepper Flag

Effect: All allies retain Spice

Spice stops being consumed. The core of Spice strategies. Strong synergy with Frenzy.

Heart Source

Effect: Heals 1 HP when an ally is attacked

Auto-heals every ally. Ideal for leader protection. Scrap 1 means it breaks easily, but the effect is enormous.

Heart Furnace

Effect: Doubles Spice gain when allies are healed

The intersection of healing synergy and Spice synergy. Strong combination with a healing leader.

Krono

Effect: Applies x1 Frenzy to all non-Crowned allies

Team-wide Frenzy is a massive damage multiplier. Keep your Crown on the leader alone for maximum effect.

Sunglasses Chime

Effect: Triggers all allies' counters when destroyed

Simultaneous team-wide trigger is extremely strong. Control the break timing intentionally and your win rate rises dramatically.

Shell-minator

Effect: Doubles Shroom applied (costs 1 Scrap)

The core of Shroom strategies. Combined with Spore Orb or Hongo's Hammer, it creates explosive damage.

Tier A — Strong Clunkers

Teeth Box

Effect: Reflects the same damage back at attackers

Regardless of damage taken, only 1 Scrap is consumed—yet the damage reflects fully. Great against high-damage enemies.

Bling Bank

Effect: Gains 4 Bling when enemies are killed

Major economy booster. Expands shop options for charms and cards.

Blunder Tank

Effect: Triggers reaction when Junk is destroyed

Combined with Clunkmaster Junk synergy, it becomes automatic damage. ATK 5 means it stands alone even without synergy.

Bomarder

Effect: Triggers reaction when a Bomb hits

Support for Bomb strategies. Strong synergy with Blaze Bomb and Clockwork Bomb.

Kobonker

Effect: Triggers reaction when Snow hits

+3 ATK every Snow application. A firepower source for Snow-heavy decks.

Mimic

Effect: Triggers reaction when an ally in the row attacks

Adds ATK 2 to ally attacks. Counter-free triggering makes it highly efficient.

Mobile Campfire

Effect: +3 ATK to allies in the same row

Constant +3 ATK is highly efficient. Place it in the front row alongside attackers as the default setup.

Moko Totem

Effect: Self-destructs at Spice 10, x5 Frenzy

Massive explosion from Spice accumulation. Requires pairing with Pepper Flag.

Fungo Gun

Effect: Transfers Shroom when a Shroom-afflicted enemy dies

Shroom doesn't go to waste. Excellent Shroom-strategy support.

Shroom Bomb

Effect: Applies 4 Shroom to attackers

Reaction-type debuff. The trick is front-row placement to force enemy attacks.

Portable Workbench

Effect: Reduces Recycle Junk requirement by 1

Accelerates Recycle item cycling. Strong synergy with Frenzy Wrench and Sunsong Box.

Tooting Accordion

Effect: Triggers a random ally (costs 1 Scrap)

Bonus ally trigger. With 3 Scrap, usable three times per fight.

Mega Mimic

Effect: Triggers reaction when an ally in the row attacks (costs 1 Scrap)

Upgraded Mimic. High ATK 5. Scrap management is key.

I.C.G.M.

Effect: Self-destructs with Frenzy equal to Scrap

At Scrap 3, x3 Frenzy × ATK 10 = 30 damage. A boss-fight finisher.

Zoomlin Nest

Effect: Applies Zoomlin to drawn allies

Instant-trigger on placement is extremely strong. Shines in decks with strong hand cycling.

Spice Gleam

Effect: +3 ATK to all items in hand

Boosts damage for item-heavy decks. The more items, the more effective.

Tier B — Situational

Haze Balloon

Effect: Confusion + ATK double to attackers when destroyed

Limited, but Confusion application is strong. Can't choose who destroys it, which is a drawback.

Junk Head

Effect: Generates 1 Junk when attacked

Junk generation. Requires Blunder Tank or other Junk synergy as a prerequisite.

Prinker

Effect: Scrap 5, ATK 2, consumes 1 Scrap each turn

Stable damage, but rapid Scrap consumption. Best for short fights.

Tier C — Low priority

Scarecrow

Effect: Takes one hit as a substitute

Scrap 1, one use only. Emergency dodge, but other Clunkers offer more value.

Recommended Clunker synergies

Spice Engine

Pepper Flag + Gachaponker + Spice-applying leader. All allies retain Spice while unleashing AoE via Barrage. Devastating damage every turn.

Shroom Factory

Shell-minator + Spore Orb/Hongo's Hammer + Fungo Gun. Double Shroom while processing enemies, and transfer Shroom from dying enemies to the next target.

Reaction Chain

Mimic/Mega Mimic + Mobile Campfire + high-ATK attacker. Same-row placement chains Mimic bonus attacks off ally attacks. Mobile Campfire pumps ATK to boot.

Frenzy Stack

Krono + Frenzy Wrench + Zoomlin Nest. Team-wide Frenzy application, with drawn companions triggering immediately. Overwhelm the enemy with volume.
