Effect and Behavior
A whip weapon that grows permanently stronger with every boss kill. Each defeated boss adds a damage bonus that persists for the rest of the run — the weapon snowballs, making long runs and boss-heavy stages its ideal environment. Early in a run the whip's damage is modest; by the late game with several bosses down, the accumulated bonuses can make it one of the highest-damage weapons on screen.
Unlocked by surviving 6 minutes with Leon Belmond (Castlevania DLC). Shares the long reach common to whip-type weapons, providing safe distance from enemies throughout the run.
Evolution Conditions
Max Alchemy Whip (Lv 8), carry Tiragisú (drops from field or level-up rewards; grants Revival +1 on pickup), and open an elite-drop chest after 10:00 to evolve into Vampire Killer.
Vampire Killer Effect
After evolution every 3rd activation fires additional projectiles. Additionally, intense sunlight scorches boss enemies, dramatically increasing anti-boss DPS. The combination of stacked boss-kill damage bonuses plus the extra projectiles and sun damage makes Vampire Killer exceptionally effective against large late-game bosses.
Strengths
- Permanent boss-kill damage scaling compounds throughout the run
- Long whip reach keeps the player at a safe distance from enemies
- Tiragisú grants Revival +1, making the evolution path also a survival safety net
- Post-evolution sunlight effect accelerates boss elimination significantly
Weaknesses
- Requires the Castlevania DLC
- Unlocked only by surviving 6 minutes with Leon Belmond
- Modest damage before multiple bosses are killed
- Underperforms on stages with few boss spawn opportunities
Recommended Characters
- Leon Belmond: the unlock character; thematic fit with the weapon
- Characters that draw frequent boss spawns: more boss kills = more damage bonuses
- Imelda: +10% Growth speeds evolution
Recommended Passives
- Tiragisú: mandatory for evolution; Revival +1 is a meaningful safety investment (top priority)
- Spinach: +10% Might raises base whip damage before bosses are farmed
- Candelabrador: wider area extends whip reach further
- Clover: better drop rates help find Tiragisú reliably
Synergistic Arcanas
- IX Divine Bloodline: crit compounding with whip strikes
- XXI Game Killer: more frequent boss spawns mean faster damage accumulation (situational)
Strategy and Tips
- Early (0–10 min): Level Alchemy Whip and collect Tiragisú. Prioritize boss kills over clearing waves — each boss defeated is a permanent damage bonus for the run. Maintain whip range to farm bosses safely.
- Mid (10–20 min): Hit Lv MAX + Tiragisú and evolve to Vampire Killer. The every-3rd-activation bonus projectile and sunlight damage immediately begin paying off against bosses.
- Late (20+ min): The accumulated boss-kill bonuses reach their peak. Vampire Killer's combined output from stacked damage, bonus projectiles, and sunlight effect makes boss encounters much faster than without the scaling.
FAQ
Q: How do I unlock Alchemy Whip?
A: Survive 6 minutes with Leon Belmond. The Castlevania DLC is required.
Q: Do the boss-kill damage bonuses stack and persist?
A: Yes — each boss kill adds a permanent damage bonus for the current run. They do not reset and accumulate indefinitely throughout the run.
Q: What does Vampire Killer's "intense sunlight" do to bosses?
A: It deals bonus damage specifically to boss-type enemies, dramatically accelerating their defeat. Combined with the stacked boss-kill bonuses from Alchemy Whip's base effect, late-game bosses fall much faster after evolution.
