Choices
"First Chest" (Small Chest)
- Gain 52 to 68 Gold (no risk)
"Second Chest" (Big Chest)
- Gain 303 to 363 Gold
- Add the Curse "Greed" to your deck (Eternal = cannot be removed)
Recommended Choice
For safety, the small chest's 52 to 68 Gold. Risk-free Gold goes into shop card removal or Relic buys.
The big chest's 303 to 363 Gold is extraordinary, but the Curse "Greed" is Eternal (unremovable), so it stays in the deck forever. Standard removal does not work. That said, 303 to 363 Gold can essentially buy out the Act 1 shop and combine multiple Relics with a removal, accelerating the run dramatically.
Strategy
- "Greed" is an Eternal Curse, so standard shop removal cannot cut it. Decide assuming the Curse stays for the whole run
- One Curse in the deck lowers the chance of drawing useful cards. Smaller decks suffer more; at 20+ cards the impact softens
- Have a concrete plan for the 303 to 363 Gold before committing. A nearby shop means 2 to 3 Relics and card removal at once — a huge boost. Far shops mean Gold sitting idle longer
- If you have Cleanse-type tools that can remove Curses, take the big chest without hesitation. Risk-free big Gold
- If the total power gain from 303 to 363 Gold worth of Relics and cards beats 1 Curse's downside, the big chest is worth it. Especially in Act 1, a Gold windfall can define the whole run's direction
- 52 to 68 Gold still covers a card removal. Low-risk runs or near-complete decks should take the small chest
