Choices
"Grab the Sword"
- Gain the Stone Sword (Relic)
- Stone Sword has no effect on pickup. After defeating 5 Elites it transforms into the Jade Sword, which grants Strength 3 at the start of combat
"Dive into the Pool"
- Gain 101 to 121 Gold
- Lose 7 HP
Recommended Choice
In most cases, "Dive into the Pool" for immediate Gold has faster payoff. 101 to 121 Gold is a solid Act 1 sum that directly funds shop card removal (75 Gold) or a Relic buy. Raising deck quality right now is a significant edge.
"Grab the Sword" is risk-free, but Stone Sword is complete dead weight until 5 Elite kills. Transformation into Jade Sword usually happens in late Act 2 or Act 3, meaning you waste a Relic slot until then. However, if you are planning an Elite-heavy route with an Attack-focused build, Jade Sword's Strength +3 is very strong.
Strategy
- The most efficient use of 101 to 121 Gold is card removal (75 Gold). Cutting one Strike or Defend improves deck cycling, and leftover Gold buys a potion or card
- 7 HP is not negligible in early Act 1. If an Elite is coming, watch HP management
- The 5-Elite condition for Stone-to-Jade Sword usually completes in late Act 2 to Act 3. On high Ascension where Elites are often skipped, it can take even longer
- Jade Sword's Strength +3 has excellent multi-hit synergy. Multi-hit cards add the Strength bonus per hit, scaling total damage sharply
- If HP is shaky, the no-risk "Grab the Sword" is the safer call. Gold opportunities return; HP does not
- With a shop nearby, "Dive into the Pool" gains value. Immediate use of Gold maximizes investment efficiency
