Regent

[STS2] Regent Tips & FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Q. How does the Stars system work?

Regent's signature resource is "Stars," spent to activate powerful card effects. Star-generation cards (Genesis, Star Child, etc.) add Stars, and consumption cards (Comet, Meteor Shower, Big Bang, etc.) spend them. Placing Genesis generates Stars automatically every turn, so getting it down early is critical.

Q. How do I use the starting relic "Divine Mandate"?

A character relic that grants 3 Stars at the start of combat. Three Stars is enough to fire off some very strong cards early. After the Act 1 boss it upgrades into "Divine Destiny," which supplies even more Stars.

Q. I've heard Regent is hard — can a beginner play him?

Play a different character first to learn the fundamentals. The Star generation-and-consumption balance is a unique mechanic, and you'll enjoy Regent a lot more once you already understand general deck-building and combat concepts.

Overlooked Synergies

  • Genesis + high-cost Star cards: Genesis generates Stars automatically each turn, letting you fire Meteor Shower and Big Bang consistently
  • Star stacking + Hidden Fortune: The more Stars you accumulate, the more gold and effect you gain from Hidden Fortune. It keeps you resource-rich across every Act
  • Particle Barrier + high Block: Spend Stars to generate Block. In the Reflective Defense build this is your main defense
  • Reflect + debuffs: Reflect the debuffs you apply to enemies back as benefits for your side. Especially strong with Gravity and Falling Star

Advanced Techniques

  • Star budget management: Track how many Stars come in and how many you spend each turn. Leaving too many unspent, or running completely dry, both hurt efficiency
  • Genesis has top placement priority: If you draw Genesis in Acts 1-2, place it immediately. Automatic Star income per turn feeds directly into late-game burst
  • Debuff usage: Drive enemy Strength negative with Gravity and stack Weak through Know Your Place — even strong enemies wither quickly
  • Star-related relics in the shop: Actively buy Star-amplifying relics such as Dolly's Mirror and Game Piece whenever they show up
