Retaining 1-2 cards at the end of every turn is extraordinarily powerful. During deck cycling you can reliably hold a big card for the right moment — Pinpoint, Deadly Poison, Burst, and other "I need to play this specific card next turn" pieces can be saved. Reserving Burst plus Deadly Poison is the classic poison combo. Upgraded to 2 retains, it's massively more flexible. A universal top-tier Power that improves essentially any deck.

• End each turn by Retaining the 1-2 cards you most want next turn. Prioritize Burst, Deadly Poison, Nightmare, etc.
• Upgraded to 2 retains, pairs like Burst plus Deadly Poison or Burst plus Blur can be locked in every turn.
• Even in low-draw or thin decks, reliably carrying key cards smooths out your runs.
• In discard decks (Dagger Throw, Survivor, etc.), it cleanly separates what you want to keep from what you want to discard.
• With Powers like Noxious Fumes, setting Well-Laid Plans first, then reserving follow-up threats, is a strong play.

• Burst: play the next Skill twice. Retain it every turn and pair it with your key Skill.
• Deadly Poison: 5-7 Poison. Retain with Burst for doubled Poison application every turn.
• Nightmare: creates 3 copies. Retain it for a guaranteed use against a boss or elite.
• Blur: Block-retention Skill. Retain it to build carried Block across multiple turns.
