Red Death Strategy

レッドデス攻略

What Is Red Death?

Red Death is the secret boss of Vampire Crawlers, appearing under specific conditions in endgame dungeons. Defeating Red Death unlocks the hidden Crawler MissingNO. This is the highest-difficulty content in the game.

Numbers don't compare to regular bosses (Garo, Mantichana, Milk Elemental). HP, damage, and attack patterns are an entirely different class. Without a survival kit, you'll get one-shot before you can react.

Spawn Conditions

Red Death appears under these conditions:

  • Surviving 30+ minutes in the same dungeon triggers a guaranteed spawn
  • Random appearance during specific Endless mode runs after Cappella Ultima clear
  • Low-probability spawn at the deepest floors of certain dungeons (Mad Forest, Gallo Tower)

The most reliable encounter is Endless mode survival. Establish a stable Endless route first if you want consistent attempts.

Required Preparation

1. Krochi's Revival Passive

You will die in 1-2 hits, so revival is mandatory. Either pick Krochi as your Crawler, or stack revival cards (Lazzaro, upgraded Pummarola, etc.).

With Krochi, the revival passive triggers a near-full HP restore. As long as you can complete 2 revival → counter loops, you have a path to victory.

2. Clock Lancet

Clock Lancet freezes enemy actions temporarily. It works on Red Death and grants 1-2 turns of breathing room. Pick it up immediately when it appears in a run. Multiple copies stack winning probability.

3. Uncrackable Gem

This gem prevents the host card from being destroyed. Red Death has card-destruction attacks, so gluing Uncrackable to your finisher is critical.

Hard to obtain, but worth dedicating gem slots to before attempting Red Death.

4. Massive Finisher

Red Death's HP pool is enormous. Standard finishers can't burst through. Fully evolve Mannajja, Vandalier, or Unholy Vespers and stack 3-4 gems on it (Wild + Triple Damage + Free to Play + Yin-Yang).

Recommended Defeat Route

Step 1: Base Selection

Two main paths: "Krochi (revive)" or "Arca (mana avalanche)". Either revive-loop your way through, or burst Red Death down before it can react.

For first attempts, Krochi is recommended. Larger safety margin = lower learning cost.

Step 2: Arcana Stack

  • Chain Link (mandatory): combo persistence speeds up post-revival recovery
  • Mana Syphon: long-game permanent mana scaling
  • Sharp Mind: carry-over mana enables instant counter on revival turn
  • Your Shield My Liege + Shield Bash (Krochi defense build)

Krochi → Shield Bash axis. Arca → trinity (Chain Link + Sharp Mind + Mana Syphon).

Step 3: Deck Composition

  • Mana Books: 2× per cost band
  • 0-cost AoE (Bone): combo opener × 2
  • Light Tomes: mana refill × 2
  • Hollow Heart: HP boost × 2-3
  • Clock Lancet: emergency × 1-2
  • Evolved Finisher: main × 1, sub × 1

Target deck size 25-30. Don't bloat — draw quality matters.

Step 4: Combat Rotation

Turns 1-3:

  • Mana Book → 0-cost AoE → Light Tome → Finisher
  • Save mana for Clock Lancet emergency reserve

On hit:

  • Krochi revival triggers
  • Survival turn: Armor → Shield Bash counters
  • Next turn: Sharp Mind carry-over fuels immediate counterattack

Below 50% boss HP:

  • Spend Clock Lancet for 1 turn
  • Drop max-stack finisher turn (evolved finisher + 3-4 gems)

Common Failure Patterns

Mana stalls mid-fight

Without enough Mana Books, you stall and stop counterattacking. Run more Mana Books than for normal bosses.

Finisher not evolved in time

If you reach Red Death without evolved finishers, damage falls short. Plan evolution recipes from run start.

Revival loop fails

Krochi revival is once per run by default. For multiple revives, run Lazzaro or other revival cards alongside.

Gems spread too thin

Distributing gems across many cards leaves the finisher under-tuned. Concentrate all top-tier gems on 1-2 finishers.

Post-Defeat Rewards

Defeating Red Death unlocks:

  • Hidden Crawler MissingNO (added to selection screen)
  • Endless mode scoreboard / persistent record mode
  • Some hidden relics and arcanas (low spawn rate)

MissingNO matches or exceeds the S Tier 4 (Arca, Clerici, Pugnala, Lama) and is optimal for Endless record-pushing. See MissingNO review.

Summary

Red Death is the most planning-intensive content in the game. Krochi revival + Clock Lancet + Uncrackable gem + max-stacked evolved finisher — all four pillars must be in place.

Expect to invest the equivalent of 10-20 normal runs in setup. Tackle this only after the top 4 unlock relics (Polentir, Stardust Anvil, Overkill, Gem Hammer) are secured and you have endgame margin.
