Rating & Analysis

Burglar is an extreme trade-off Joker that swaps all discards for +3 Hands. The 4 standard hands jump to 7, nearly doubling your attack volume. This is gold for "scales per hand" Jokers (Green Joker, Ride the Bus, Glass Joker) and hand-count synergies (Banner, Mr. Bones, 8 Ball).

The decision pivots on "are you running a discard-light build?" If you already have Yorick / Burnt Joker / Hit the Road / DNA, skip Burglar — these all need discards. Conversely, if you want to spam hands and stack +Mult per play, +3 hands is enormous value.

Blueprint / Brainstorm copying Burglar effectively yields +6 hands (the implementation has some debate, but safe usage is strong). The $6 cost is cheap; in any hand-axis build, Burglar is a top-priority pickup.

Good Joker Synergies

Joker Why
Banner +30 Chips per remaining discard — Burglar zeroes discards, so they don't pair (avoid).
Mr. Bones Extra hands make hitting the 25%-scored insurance threshold easier.
8 Ball Tarot per played 8 — +3 hands = more triggers.
Ride the Bus +Mult per face-free hand — more hands = more growth.
Green Joker +Mult per remaining hand — Burglar's +3 hands raise the ceiling.
Baron x1.5 per held King — more hands = more compound triggers.

Tips & Usage

  • Picking Burglar means committing to a hand-axis build immediately.
  • Don't combine with discard-axis Jokers (Yorick, Burnt Joker, Hit the Road).
  • Banner becomes 0 chips with Burglar (no remaining discards) — never combine.
  • Discard-expanding vouchers (Wasteful, Grabber) become useless under Burglar.
  • Blue Deck + Burglar = 8 hands of attack volume.

Caveats

  • 0 discards is the real cost — no flexibility to reshape hands.
  • You play whatever the deck gives you — high variance with bad draws.
  • Perishable Burglar is risky — sudden expiry shifts the build mid-run.
  • Joker slot cost is real; in dominant builds, prioritize other Jokers.
  • Discard-axis Jokers already in build = skip Burglar entirely.
