Rating & Analysis
Mime retriggers all held-in-hand card abilities — one of Balatro's strongest mechanics. Held-card effects (Baron's x1.5/King, Shoot the Moon's +13 Mult/Queen, Steel's hold x1.5) all fire twice. Combined with Red Seal (which already retriggers), you can reach 4 activations per held card — explosive scaling.
The dream pairing is Baron + Mime for King axis. Baron's x1.5/King becomes effectively x2.25/King with Mime. With 4 Kings held, x2.25⁴ ≈ x25.6 Mult; Blueprint / Brainstorm copying Mime pushes the ceiling to x2.25⁸ ≈ x655.4 Mult — a true ceiling-breaker. Shoot the Moon (+13 Mult per Queen) becomes +26/Queen, scaling to +104 Mult with 4 held Queens.
Blue Seal generates a Planet card on round end — Mime retriggers blue-sealed held cards, doubling Planet generation. Steel (hold x1.5) and Gold (hold +$3) also benefit. Tier lists rate Mime near S+. The $5 cost is a steal; buy on sight.

- Buy on sight — $5 is trivial relative to the retrigger ceiling.
- Pair with hold-effect Jokers (Baron, Shoot the Moon, Steel cards) to unlock Mime's full power.
- Red Seal on held cards = compound retrigger (Mime + Red Seal = 4 fires).
- Blueprint / Brainstorm copying Mime = 3× total fires per held card.
- Emperor Tarot grows King count for Baron + Mime synergy.
Caveats
- Held-in-hand cards only — scored (played) cards are not affected.
- Without held-effect cards/Jokers, Mime is nearly dead.
- Perishable Mime is risky — retrigger stops on expiry.
- Distinct from Sock and Buskin (face-card retrigger) / Hanging Chad (first-card retrigger), which target scored cards.
- Antimatter Spectral expanding Joker slots makes Mime + core Joker coexistence easier.
