A speed-focused gem with three socket-dependent effects.

• Weapon socket: Increases weapon attack speed (Chipped: +10%).
• Armor socket: Grants Stun resistance and Critical resistance (Chipped: 10% Stun / 5% Crit).
• Backpack slot: Increases Stamina regeneration rate (Chipped: +8%).

• Weapon attack speed applies multiplicatively to the weapon's native attack interval. Example: a 2.0-second weapon with Perfect Topaz (+40%) becomes ~1.43 seconds (2 / 1.4), increasing attack count by 1.4x.
• Attack speed buffs multiply with other speed buffs (Swift Gloves, Hot Stuff, etc.). Swift Gloves +50% x Topaz +40% = effective +110% attack speed.
• On Critwood Staff, Topaz accelerates critical hit frequency, which in turn speeds up Critwood's "1-second per crit" loop. This is a crucial mechanic that lifts low-damage weapons up in value.
• Armor Stun resistance has a chance to negate Stun when it would apply. Perfect Topaz's 50% is best-in-class for stun-lock prevention.
• Critical resistance reduces the bonus damage taken from enemy crits. Perfect's 30% is an effective counter to crit-centric builds (Ranger, Mage).
• Backpack Stamina regen solves the stamina starvation problem of heavy weapons like Doom Greatsword and Double Axe, permanently propping up DPS.

Topaz's "+X% attack speed" is simple but the most directly DPS-relevant of the five gems. Because attack speed increases the number of procs for other gems (Sapphire, Ruby, Amethyst), Topaz indirectly boosts them as well — a catalyst role. This is why it is said "you always want at least one Topaz."

On weapons, Topaz shines in two modes: slotted into slow/mid-speed weapons (Broadsword, axes, scythes) to push them toward hit-volume, or slotted into already-fast weapons (Shortbow, Falcon Blade, Dagger) to spiral into extreme speed. Its synergy with Critwood Staff is the standout: Perfect Topaz gives "+40% crit frequency" → "+40% Critwood 1s-loop rate" → "huge amplification of the chained proc rate" — a cascade of power.

In dual-wield setups, "Topaz on the main weapon, Sapphire/Ruby/Amethyst on the offhand" is an efficient role split. A faster main weapon also indirectly increases the offhand's effect frequency (more Mana, more lifesteal, more strips).

Armor-socket Topaz competes with Resilience Hat (full Stun immunity) in some situations, but Perfect Topaz's 50% Stun + 30% Crit is top-shelf armor-slot value. In stun-lock and crit-heavy metas, it is essentially mandatory.

Backpack Topaz's Stamina regen is most valuable in Berserker builds around heavy weapons. It solves Doom Greatsword's "attacks stop when stamina runs dry" problem at the root.

• Socket primarily in your main weapon. Combinations with Critwood Staff, Falcon Blade, and Doom Greatsword are automatic staples.
• In dual-wield, put Topaz on the main weapon and Sapphire/Ruby/Amethyst on the offhand for clear role division.
• Perfect Topaz (+40%) is a large jump over Flawless (+25%), making it one of the highest priority end-game crafts.
• Armor socket is a clear meta counter against Stun and Crit builds. Switch slots fluidly after scouting the opponent.
• Backpack Topaz Stamina regen suits heavy-weapon builds (Berserker). Other classes should prioritize weapon/armor Topaz.
• Critwood Staff's 1-second loop attack accelerates with Topaz, increasing the number of chained triggers — and thus doubling the output of any other gems that fire off it.

Ranger Critwood Staff Loop

Two Critwood Staffs socketed with two Perfect Topaz, accelerating crit frequency by +40%. As the 1s Critwood effect loop speeds up, chained gem effects (Sapphire Cold, Amethyst buff strip) also fire much more often. Use Swift Gloves alongside to maintain +60-80% attack speed, overwhelming the opponent with hit volume.

Berserker Doom Greatsword Speed Build

Doom Greatsword socketed with two Perfect Topaz, plus two Flawless Topaz in the backpack. Weapon attack speed +40% combined with +30% x 2 Stamina regen means no stamina starvation — you just keep swinging. Ruby in a weapon socket covers attack-animation hit-taking with lifesteal.

Engineer Extreme Attack Speed Stingers

Stingers or Sparkstone socketed with Perfect Topaz. Class-native use-speed buff + Topaz + Swift Gloves pushes attack speed past +150%. Add Sapphire weapons for high-hit-rate Cold application, locking the opponent's speed to near zero — a freeze strategy.

Dual-Wield Rainbow Gem Build

Two Perfect Topaz on the main weapon (attack speed specialization), plus Perfect Sapphire + Perfect Ruby + Perfect Amethyst on the offhand (effect specialization). The main weapon's speed buff indirectly accelerates offhand trigger rolls, maximizing all gem proc frequencies at once. One of the completed forms at the top of the ladder.

• Weapon Topaz has no standalone effect. It assumes pairing with other gems or with high-hit weapons. Unlike Ruby, it is a pure investment in the rest of your build.
• Higher attack speed does not change per-hit damage. Against Block/Shield-heavy opponents, more hits just mean more damage soaked. Pair with Sapphire's Block-bypass to solve this.
• Armor Stun resistance is dead if the opponent lacks a Stun weapon. Scout and swap gems flexibly.
• Backpack Stamina regen is hard to feel without a high-stamina-consumption build. In Stingers/Sparkstone lists it tends to be dead weight.
• The gap between Flawless (+25%) and Perfect (+40%) is large, justifying the 16G craft. Conversely, Regular (+20%) to Flawless (+25%) is just +5% — prioritize that step lower.
• Stacking multiple Topazes reportedly adds rather than multiplies in some cases (needs verification). Two Perfect Topaz may not give the full +80%.
