Basic Info

  • Type: Treasure

  • Effect: $1 / When you gain or trash this, gain a Silver — top of deck if in Buy phase, hand otherwise.
  • Split pile: 5 Encampment / 5 Rocks per pile.

Rating

Bottom-half of an Empires split pile (5 Encampments must clear first). Effectively a $4 Silver with a Silver-on-gain/trash kicker. Tier A.

Trash one — get a Silver. So Rocks is the perfect Remodel fuel: upgrade and replace itself with a Silver. Gained during Buy phase, the Silver lands on top of your deck — next-turn snap.

How to Play

After Encampments deplete, Rocks emerges. Rush Encampment if you want Rocks fast.

Solid stand-alone Treasure ($1 + Silver). Excellent Remodel target.

Buying Rocks during Buy phase puts the Silver on deck — synergizes with Treasury / topdeck plays.

When to Pick / Skip

If Encampment is strong, Rocks line is auto-picked. Trashers + Rocks = banked Silvers from upgrades.

Key Combos

Rocks + Remodel / Expand: trash → Silver bonus, upgrade to Province.

Rocks + Mine: $4 Silver → Gold.

Rocks + Treasury: topdeck Silver replays.

Rocks + Trader: trash for many Silvers.

Rocks + KC / TR: gain triggers stack with multi-gain effects.

Rocks + +1 Buy (Margrave, Spice Merchant): scoop multiple Rocks.

Counters & Bad Matchups

  • Silver-averse engines.
  • Pure Big Money without trashers.
  • Very short games — Encampments don't clear.

Advanced Tips

Encampment + Rocks split pile timing: drain top half to expose bottom.

Buy-phase gain → Silver on deck (T-1 snap). Other-phase gain → Silver to hand.

Rocks → Province via Remodel: also add a Silver. Double tempo gain.

Threepile fork: Encampment, Rocks, plus 1 quick pile = endgame.
