Lightning Orb Build

Build Overview

An offense-focused build that piles up damage by mass-channeling and Evoking Lightning Orbs. With Thunder (Power) installed, every Lightning Evoke deals bonus damage to all enemies, producing explosive damage output. Storm auto-channels Lightning every time a Power is played, while Tempest and Rebound stack many Lightnings at once. The build has strong synergy with Focus scaling, and Defragment dramatically changes the scale.

Tier Rating: A

Reason: As a damage-focused build it delivers very high burst. It especially shines in small-fry and elite fights with multiple enemies, where Lightning's AoE damage plus Thunder (Power) bonus damage clears groups in no time. However, as a pure-offense build, durability is thinner than Frost, and stability drops a bit.

Key Cards (Essential)

  • Thunder (Power): Every Lightning Evoke deals 6 damage (8 upgraded) to all enemies. Without this card the build's damage drops sharply, so adopt it at top priority
  • Defragment: Permanent +1 to +2 Focus. The foundation card, strengthening both Lightning's passive and Evoke damage
  • Ball Lightning: Cost 1, 7 damage + channels 1 Lightning. A main attack that strikes while stacking Orbs
  • Tesla Coil: Cost 0, damage + fires every Lightning passive immediately. Combined with Thunder (Power), a single card produces massive bonus damage

Flex Cards to Consider

  • Storm: Channels 1 Lightning whenever a Power is played. Lightning stacks automatically in Power-heavy decks
  • Tempest: X-cost, channels X Lightning (X+1 upgraded). Used after securing lots of Energy, stacks many Lightnings at once
  • Rebound: Channels Lightning equal to the total Lightning channeled this fight (cost 3). After generating lots of Lightning with Tempest or Storm, it explodes in count, but at cost 3 you need to plan with Double Energy or Plasma
  • Multi-Cast: X-cost, Evokes the Orb X times. With plenty of Energy, Evoke Lightning all at once and chain Thunder (Power) bonus damage
  • Dualcast: Cost 1, Evokes the rightmost Orb twice. A step below Quadcast as an early Evoke option
  • Quadcast: Cost 1, Evokes Lightning four times. A stable finisher when Energy is tight
  • Creative AI: Gains a random Power each turn. Provides Storm triggers each turn and auto-stacks Lightning
  • Double Energy: Doubles remaining Energy. Enhances the Tempest + Multi-Cast combo

Synergistic Relics

  • Data Disk: Focus +1 at battle start. Raises both Lightning passive damage and Evoke damage, and in this Focus-centric build it means practical damage output from the early game
  • Lost Wisp: Deals 8 damage to all enemies whenever you play a Power. In Storm-fueled Power-spam turns, the Lightning channel plus extra AoE damage combine for a dramatic increase in wipe potential
  • Pawn: Draws 1 card each time you play a Power. In this build that plays many Powers through Storm, draw doesn't stall and Tesla Coil or Multi-Cast comes to hand more readily
  • Mummified Hand: Whenever you play a Power, a random card in your hand becomes free. When spamming Powers after Storm is down, attack cards and skills become free, dramatically improving Energy efficiency
  • Chemical X: X-cost cards gain +2 to X when played. Tempest and Multi-Cast X values rise, the count of Lightning channels/Evokes grows, and burst damage jumps
  • Runic Capacitor: Grants additional Orb slots. Holds more Lightning simultaneously, and total damage from Tesla Coil simultaneous fires or Multi-Cast Evokes grows
  • Permafrost: The first Power played each battle grants 6 Block. When Thunder or Storm is installed first, the Block offsets the early fragility of this offense-specialized build

Play Flow

Act 1

Prioritize Ball Lightning and Defragment. Early on Lightning's passive damage is low, so use Ball Lightning's 7 direct damage to handle small fry. If Thunder (Power) shows up, adopt it immediately. Tesla Coil at cost 0 should be taken every time you see it. Before the Act 1 boss, stack 1-2 Focus and push Lightning's auto-effect to roughly 3-5 damage.

Act 2

Build the Lightning-generation engine with Storm and Creative AI. Multiple Defragments push Focus to 4-5, where Lightning's passive damage becomes practical. Tempest and Rebound let you stack massive Lightning at once. However, Rebound at cost 3 is heavy, so plan its use with Double Energy, Plasma, or another Energy source. In elite fights, use defensive cards while stacking Lightning each turn, then practice the pattern of firing them all off with Tesla Coil.

Act 3

With Focus 5+ and 8-10+ Lightnings stacked, a finishing move with Multi-Cast or Quadcast is complete. Thunder (Power) bonus damage (6-8 per Evoke) hits all enemies, so multi-enemy fights end instantly. In boss fights, spend 1-2 turns stacking Lightning, then aim for a one-shot with Multi-Cast. With Lost Wisp, every Power play adds damage, accelerating clears further.

Strengths and Weaknesses

Strengths

  • Produces overwhelming AoE damage in small-fry and elite fights with multiple enemies
  • Tesla Coil at cost 0 lets you trigger massive damage without spending Energy
  • After Thunder (Power) is installed, each Lightning Evoke deals bonus AoE damage, giving high burst
  • Good synergy with Power-heavy decks; Creative AI keeps Lightning stacking indirectly

Weaknesses

  • Without Thunder (Power) the build doesn't come together, so reliance is high
  • Less durable than Frost, and you have to set up while taking damage
  • In single-target boss fights, AoE damage helps less, and damage output can lag Frost or Dark builds
  • The Tempest + Multi-Cast combo that burns a pile of Energy is unstable without Plasma support
