[Dominion] Kitsune Card Guide - Versatile Fate Attack
Rising Sun Kitsune. Cost 5 Action-Attack-Fate. +1 Favor + choose 2 (+$2 / +2 actions / each opponent gains a Curse / gain a Silver).
Kitsune
Basic Info
- Type: Action-Attack-Fate
- Cost: 5
- Effect: +1 Favor. Choose two different options: +$2; +2 Actions; each other player gains a Curse; gain a Silver.
Rating
A top-tier Rising Sun card. At cost 5, "curse-spread plus utility flex" gives Witch-equivalent attack with extra modes. The "choose 2" flexibility is the killer feature. Plus +1 Favor.
Best feature: situation-adaptive choices. Curse + $2 / Curse + Action / Curse + Silver / no-curse mid-late combos. Even after curse pile drains, +$2/+Action/Silver picks remain meaningful.
Overall S tier. Must-buy on Kitsune boards. Strictly stronger than Witch.
How to Play
Early: top priority on 5 coin. Kitsune handles cursing, engine support, and Favor generation simultaneously.
Mid-game: keep cursing with multiple Kitsune. Pick +2 Actions when terminal-stuck, +$2 when buying, Silver when economy thin.
End-game: after curses drain, +$2 + Silver for economy or +2 Actions + Silver for engine reload.
Choice Priority
Curse pile open: Curse + (mostly +$2 or +2 Actions).
Post-curse drain: +$2 + Silver (economy) or +2 Actions + Silver (engine).
Emergency: Curse + Silver (own buildup + opponent attack).
Key Combos
Kitsune + Daimyo: Doubled Kitsune = 2 curses + doubled secondary. One-turn 2-curse spread, brutal.
Kitsune + Throne Room: Same idea but action-cost concern.
Kitsune + other Fate: Favor stack accelerates Prophecy.
Kitsune + Smithy: Curse + draw boost.
Synergies
- Daimyo: Doubled Kitsune.
- Tea House / Poet: Favor stack for Prophecy.
- Smithy / Lab: Draw boost combo.
- Remodel / Craftsman: Cost-5 gain.
- King's Court: Triple Kitsune (Command).
Counters & Bad Matchups
- 4-player games: Curse pile drains fast, late-mover disadvantage.
- Moat / Lighthouse / Secret Chamber: Reaction blocks curse.
- Kitsune mirrors: Tempo and curse-spread race.
Advanced Tips
"Choose 2" depends on board state. Curse-paired-with-Action or Curse-paired-with-Coin are most common, but read situation.
Multiple Kitsune: First with +Action + Curse, second with +Coin + Curse maximizes value.
Most flexible curser. With both Witch and Kitsune available, prefer Kitsune (Favor + flexibility).
Post-curse, Kitsune still functions as +$2 + Action or +$2 + Silver economy.
