[Dominion] Snake Witch Card Guide - Conditional Curser
Rising Sun Snake Witch. Cost 4 Action-Attack-Shadow. +1 Card +1 Action, if hand has no duplicates may return to pile to give all opponents Curse.
Snake Witch
Basic Info
- Type: Action-Attack-Shadow
- Cost: 4
- Effect: +1 Card. +1 Action. If your hand has no duplicate cards, you may reveal it and return this to its pile, to have each other player gain a Curse.
Rating
Rising Sun's top curser. Cost 4 cantrip + conditional curse-spread is bargain efficiency. The "no-duplicate hand" trigger is easy to satisfy in a thin deck.
Best feature: cost 4 hits 4-coin slots reliably, starting curse spread from turn 2. Plus the card returns to its pile when fired — no deck bloat, infinite reuse.
Overall S tier. Top priority on Snake Witch boards.
How to Play
Early: must-buy at 4 coin. Turn 2 with Estate + 3 Coppers = no duplicates? Already curse-firing.
Mid-game: keep thinning to maintain no-duplicate state. Fire Snake Witch every turn for sustained cursing.
End-game: spread curses till pile drains. Thin deck preserves the trigger.
No-Duplicate Tactics
Maintain "no duplicates":
- Chapel / River Shrine / Rice Broker thin Copper/Estate.
- Single Silver/Gold (avoid stacking).
- Snake Witch itself can't be doubled in hand.
Multiple Snake Witches risk breaking the trigger — 1-2 copies is best.
Key Combos
Snake Witch + Chapel: Thinning aids no-duplicate trigger.
Snake Witch + Daimyo: Doubled curse-spread (still conditional).
Snake Witch + other Shadow: Shadow stack saves action.
Synergies
- Chapel / River Shrine / Rice Broker: Thinning support.
- Daimyo: Doubled curser.
- University / Craftsman: Cost-4 gain.
- Workshop: Gain Snake Witch.
Counters & Bad Matchups
- 4-player games: Curse pile drains fast.
- Moat / Lighthouse / Secret Chamber: Curse blocked.
- Copper-heavy decks: Trigger failures.
- Competing cursers: Pile race.
Advanced Tips
Snake Witch returns to pile when fired, so few copies is fine. 1-2 is enough.
Plan for no-duplicate state by trashing Copper/Estate early.
When both Witch and Snake Witch are on board, prefer Snake Witch (cheaper, returns to pile, better copy-efficiency).
