Attack Pattern
The Insatiable is a hard-timer boss using the Sandpit mechanic. It opens by applying 4 Sandpit stacks to itself and giving the player 6 Frantic Escape cards. The Sandpit counter decrements each turn — when it reaches 1, the player dies instantly.
| Turn | Action |
|---|---|
| Opening | Liquify Ground — Applies 4 Sandpit stacks to itself; gives player 6 Frantic Escape cards; Sandpit decreases by 1 each turn |
| Turn 2 | Thrash — Medium damage attack |
| Turn 3 | Lunging Bite — Heavy damage attack |
| Turn 4 | Salivate — Permanently gains Strength (self-buff) |
| Turn 5 | Thrash — Medium damage |
| Turn 6 | Lunging Bite — Heavy damage (now significantly more dangerous with stacked Strength) |
| Onwards | Cycle repeats while Sandpit continuously decrements |
Strategy
- Kill within 4–5 turns — The Sandpit counter reaching 0 is an instant death. While Salivate on Turn 4 raises the Strength threat, eliminating the boss before the counter expires is the absolute top priority.
- Use Frantic Escape only when the timer is critically low — Each Frantic Escape played costs a card slot that could be an attack or block. Save Escapes for when Sandpit reaches 1–2 stacks; playing them early wastes your damage budget.
- Keep deck size around 20 cards — With 20 cards, your odds of drawing Frantic Escape when needed are statistically manageable. Bloated decks risk failing to draw Escapes at critical moments.
- Never accidentally Exhaust Frantic Escape — Cards with random Exhaust effects can eliminate Frantic Escapes permanently, directly shortening your survival window. Think before using Exhaust in this fight.
- Burst damage decks are required — Sustained or defensive deck archetypes cannot whittle down 321+ HP within the time limit. Build for concentrated, high-damage output.
Recommended Counters
- Commit to all-out offense from Turn 1 and target a kill before the Sandpit timer expires
- Reserve Frantic Escape for when Sandpit reaches 1–2 stacks; spend energy on attacks otherwise
- Keep deck size near 20 cards to maintain reliable Frantic Escape draw odds
- Exercise caution with random Exhaust effects — losing a Frantic Escape permanently reduces your survival window
- Prioritize direct burst damage over Poison or DoT, since the tight turn limit limits how many ticks can accumulate
