Attack Pattern
The Torch Head Amalgam is the companion unit in the Act 3 Queen boss fight. While the Queen handles control and debuffs, the Amalgam acts as the primary damage dealer. Its Turn 3 triple-hit attack is the leading cause of death in this encounter.
| Turn | Action |
|---|---|
| Turn 1 | Attack — Medium damage |
| Turn 2 | Attack — Medium damage |
| Turn 3 | Attack x3 — Three-hit combo dealing high total damage (increasingly dangerous as the Queen stacks Strength on it) |
| Onwards | Repeats Turns 1–3; the Queen continuously buffs the Amalgam's Strength |
Strategy
- Kill the Amalgam first — Once the Amalgam is eliminated, the Queen loses her damage engine, converting the fight into a manageable solo. At 199 HP versus the Queen's 400, the Amalgam is the faster kill and the higher priority target.
- Prepare Block before each Turn 3 — Since the Amalgam's attack cycle is fixed, you know a triple hit is coming every third turn. Plan your Block allocation around this cadence. The damage escalates significantly after the Queen grants Strength.
- AoE cards are highly efficient — Cards that hit all enemies damage both the Queen and the Amalgam simultaneously, letting you race the Amalgam's HP down while making progress on the Queen.
- Chains of Binding complicates blocking — On turns when the Queen uses Chains of Binding, the Amalgam still attacks. With only one playable card, decide carefully between Block and offense based on incoming damage.
Recommended Counters
- Prioritize the Amalgam and take it down as quickly as possible
- Track the Amalgam's 3-turn cycle and ensure sufficient Block is in hand before Turn 3
- Use AoE cards to damage both targets while maintaining focus fire on the Amalgam
- Apply Weak to the Amalgam to reduce the triple-hit damage output
- Once the Amalgam falls, shift focus to managing the Queen's debuffs and controlling the remaining fight
