The Acorn Charm provides a burst of 8 Shell (damage-absorbing barrier) to the equipped unit. Shell absorbs incoming damage before HP is reduced, making this one of the most straightforward defensive charms in the game.

8 Shell is a substantial defensive boost in a single charm slot. Unlike HP increases that simply raise your health ceiling, Shell acts as a temporary buffer that can absorb burst damage entirely. The value is strongest in early-to-mid game where 8 points of protection can prevent one-shot deaths and keep your key units alive through critical fights.

The downside is that Shell is depleted over time — once the 8 Shell is gone, the charm provides no further protection. For units that are attacked frequently every round, the Shell will wear down quickly. In very long battles or against enemies with high attack frequency, the effective value diminishes compared to raw HP buffs like Heart Charm. Still, for units that need to survive one or two big hits, Acorn Charm punches above its weight.

Acorn Charm is best placed on high-priority units that need to survive early aggression. Your leader or a fragile but powerful attacker benefits greatly — the Shell buys extra turns to deal damage before being brought down.

Units with Teeth (カミツキ) or other on-hit retaliation effects appreciate the Shell because surviving extra hits means triggering those effects more times. Similarly, units that have important triggered abilities (healing on hit, Overload application, etc.) want to stay alive as long as possible.

Avoid equipping this on units that already have very high HP unless the extra protection rounds out a specific threshold. Consider pairing with Block Charm for stacking Shell values.
